I'm wondering the relative benefits of the quarter vs. half. Not really knowing *exactly* how the coin works (but have a pretty good idea) I thinking the ability to manipulate the coin would matter. I'm good with quarters, but still wonder about using this in a small size. I suppose what routines you can do with other gaffed coins would make a difference. I don't usually have more than one gaff in an effect, but if I needed a [ or something else, I suppose that might matter because most of what I have is half dollar sized. Borrowing a coin from a spec or doing street with "available" coinage would seem to lend itself to something everyone has in their pockets. What are your thoughts about the quality and effectiveness in routines of the quarter vs. half?

Having used the quarter, half and dollar size, the larger ones are easier to use, but I have arthritic fingers.
In the book "T.U.C. Appreciation" more effects were created for ther half than the others because it is the most popular size. It can also be combined with an English Penny for some interesting variation. Yes, appearing to borrow a quarter has an advantage, but with the gradual shift to "state" quarters some of the advantage is lost. If I could only own one size it would be the half.

I like to use quarters only for impromptu effects where I can ask to borrow quarters from someone. Mainly because you can't really borrow half dollars from anyone - no one except magicians carry them nowadays! of course anytime I am performing as planned I use half or dollar coins. I agree that the state quarters have put a serious dent in my impromptu quarter work! ALL of my quarter gaffs are eagle-back; it isn't practical to use state quarter backs made into gaffs, and even the obverse of the state quarters are different enough from the eagle-backs to be noticed by specs.
Regarding TUCs specifically, I mostly use my half dollar TUCs. I have a quarter TUC but I find it a bit difficult to use - can't seem to separate it as easily as the half dollars, though that might be lack of handling on my part, but it doesn’t feel like it. Likewise my Ike dollar TUC isn't as comfortable in use; it is very loose and can even come apart when I don’t want it to do so! Adjustments I make by hand don’t seem to last through any routines unfortunately. Luckily I have two Kennedy half dollar TUCs and one Copper/Silver Kennedy TUC so I just use the heck out of those. Thanks! Jim BTW, if you don’t have Funsway's book, TUC Appreciation, you are missing out on the best resource available for the TUC. I have the hardbound and ebook versions. Excellent resource. |

Any effects where you use 2 or more TUCs? I was just imagining... Don't tell my wife, it isn't in the budget with a pending trip for 3 to South Africa

I have not seen any routines with two TUCs, but the possibilities are enormous. It is a great coin and you are only limited by your imagination and willingness to work out routines. I have recently been working on a routine which may use the TUC along with a coin made by Johnny Wong.
If there are published routines using 2 TUCs then Funsway is probably aware of them. Enjoy your TUC - it is great! |

I have never seen any -- nor were any contributed. I played with the idea, but could never come up with anything as a dramatic advantage.
Their are many exciting effects possible using and EXP S***l with a TUC - several in the Book Using the TUC as the Silver coin in a CSB set can lead to some interesting transistions. Ditto with a standard C/S switch followed by a TUC effect.

Someone here posted once about using a few TUCs to show an effect of rapidly multiplying coins, similar to Coin Explosion or Bomber - one of those type of effects. IIRC they were talking about working on something like this but I don’t remember seeing any follow-up regarding how it was working out. Interesting idea; not sure if I could manipulate multiple TUCs quickly and smoothly enough to make something like that work well.
Thanks! Jim |

Mr. Tango produces 24 dollars in rapid succession to end one effect.
The neat thing is that all the TUC's hang together in stacks until needed.

Hello Friends,
I suggest to put this opinion in the other TUC post that has more than 44.000 views, I wonder if it's totally record for a post. Go to the other post and you will see how to produce 30 or more coins with TUC. |
