I know I 'rant ' a bit, and am 'opinionated' re 'cubicle' jobs. It was over 6 years ago, that I started busking, but haven't worked a paycheck since 1994. I reckon it's my 'hating' governments, politicians, and the' system' which we serve, when the system should serve us, that irks me.
I couldn't work a regular job now, but there are those who do, that could, and do, busk. No plan 'B' for me. The mindset though, is the thing. That's what today will be about JJ |

James: I'm a bit confused regarding your tip. In your show do you change a bill to a higher denomination and change it back, or do you give the person lending you the higher bill? Or, if I may ask the same question from a different angle; why are people tipping higher now?

Thank you for sharing this!
How about taping an arrow on the camera? So the operator knows if it's right? You may have solved it already. I've only made it half way through but I have to walk away and wanted to thank and see if I could assist. |

Hi RiffRaff,
Depending on the energy of the show, I will give away rhe higher denomination bill to the person who gave me fhe smaller bill in the first place. The energy has to be right, as it's on the reading of this, that will help me divide whether or not to not ask for the higher denomination back. Again if the energy is right, there is a very good chance that it will come back to the hat. Changing the amount, from a borrowed $10 to a $20 (changing back or not...see above) brings larger notes into play. Even when I (mostly) reverse the process ie change back to a $10, the spectator, who's money it is, will at times give me the $10 anyway. This happens quite frequently when changing a $5 to a $10 and then back, with 'that'$5 ending up in my hat. It's the idea of what I say my show is worth, and comes down to what a lot of the psychology I've learned from others, to wit...ask for $5s you'll get gold. Ask for $10s you'll get $5s, ask for $20s you'll get $10s. I don't think the paradigmn goes higher but extra $10s when they could, or would be $5s makes a big difference. Re the arrows, not really sure what you mean. Let me know, as Ill change what's necessary. Cheers James |

Hi 'Rotten'
It was an idea fortunes who wanted to 'see' the actual money side of things, but as I'm doing this determinedly from my iPhone, some rungs it would seem are a leap too far. Once this project is completed, lol be posting an essay of sorts, bells, whistles, and such. It's a slog at times, e-v-e-r-y day on pitch, with 5 and upwards shows. I've made a rod for my back, but, have a strong constitution so it's all good. My broadband limit has been reached on my phone, so no new videos till 24th when I get full limit back. Thanks forall the positive comments. JJ |

Just finished 9 shows today with an average of 5 per day over 34 days which makes 170 plus shows over the time I've been here.
I stopped posting the 'dailys' but when home in Adelaide over the weekend I'm putting together a report on the whole excursion. Thanks for all the supportfrom here, and will post one last time as to where the'report can be found. Knackered, grungy, tired, magic'd out and need a bath. James |

Thanks Bob, it's Sunday at the time of writing this, got home late Thursday, took Friday & Saturday off ( had a short gig Fri night) and now putting pen to paper to finalize the whole shebang. The report will have extended videos and they will all be the right way up.
I'll be taking down the page as is to spruce it up and make it more entertaining to read. Thanks for your support James |

As 'luck' would have it... I'm sitting in Adelaide airport ready to fly up again fir a further 10 days, after my sojourn earlier...One week of not banging a stick has given me the 'blues'. Although I did really well considering, I still have to keep the ball rolling, and Adelaie is cold & wet.
Anyway, throughout last week I put 'pen to paper' and finished my end report. It can be found at http://www.mntvplus.com Thanks to everyone here for your support and private messages. I know at times my 'autocracy' in and around what I believe, is a bit full on, my only excuse is that, there is none. Just me I'm afraid Just me. James James http://www.mntvplus.com |

Oh a wee note also, the blurb on the front page is for 'public' consumption, as I'm flogging a book written by an author here in Australia.A book about the show and my take on it all.. This busking.
Just remember, it's ad speak, and not to be taken literally. In no way do I consider myself to be a 'stand out show', Nick, who inspired me, and Gazzo, who taught me, are the real standouts. But you know how advertising works, especially for the masses. Just thought I'd fall on my sword now and seek your 'forgiveness' in regard of any 'crassness' you may feel I expound. James |

Just back from that sojourn in Brisbane and now there's a book out...as mentioned above.
Written by Peter Russell (Australian author) all about 'that' show, with insights from myself. You can view the preface free (self written) with an extra video at http://www.mntvplus.com/theshow or propagate its path by visiting http://www.mntvplus.com I like it but then again I'm biased.
