I am very interested, being Chinese, in eastern styles of card manipulation. I learned a few techniques from Jeff McBride after he returned from Korea, and would love to know more. Does anyone know of any resources?

Zombie:
I would reccomend the work of Mahka Tendo. He has some wonderful and unique styles of card manipulation and has some great moves with jumbo cards as well as 360 degree card fans. I am not sure if I told you about him before, or if that was someone else. Sorry if It was you and this is repetitive.

You told me about him before, and I have researched him but have found nothing. I'll keep looking.

Ok. I will try and see if I can get names of others that might be of interest to you. I would also look for the information from Shimada as well. His card and manipulation work are second to none. I also would look into the manipulation work of Cirel (sp) Harvey. Not sure I spelled that right but he has done some pretty amazing stuff.

I have seen Shimada, and his stuff is not as exotic as I want. What I am looking for is similar to the things Jeff McBride showed me. A spinning card production, a front palm split fan, roll downs and things of that nature. Thanks for the information of Cirel Harvey.

The front palm split is on his manipulation videos.

Not the front hand split, a Japanese technique that allows you to produce only half of the cards from your palm. It is not a split fan or Baxter's front hand split.

Oh........ sounds interesting. Don't know where you can find it though.

All very good stuff. Yes, Cirel puts out a lecture and has lecture notes. I am not sure who would have them though. He does some very cool off the wall and different card techniques. Some of the types of things I think you are after.

Hello Zombie Boy,
I don't know if it's what you are looking for, but you might seek out information on Tenkai. Also, Richard Kaufman has a book called "The Magic of Japan." You might check this. Stephen |

Actually, Jeff mentioned James Cielen, but I didn't know how to contact him. The magicians you mentioned are the precise ones I'm looking for. How could I contact him?

You say you like McBride, but do you have his video/dvd's. If not, I would recomend getting them to continue your masterclass in manipulation.
You obviously like Jeff, so take the full McBride course. There is MUCH you did not get taught by him.

I obviously have his videos, because that is how I learned about him. Then, after seeing him live, I asked about his class, and proceeded to go. Sorry I didn't make this apparent earlier.

Juliana Chen has a lovely card act too. I don't know if she teaches though.

Chen's production isn't in print anywhere, nor is her card scaling techniques. She is amazing at both!

Thought as much. Thanks for clarifying though Scott.

Actually, her card production is in print. It can be found in a manuscripts called CARD ACT available from Denny and Lees. That act is not that great, but it has that production.

The book is decidedly "old school" and is written by Tom Osborne. It's twelve dollars at dennymagic.com

Thanks, Zombieboy. I checked it out and it looks interesting. It's cheap so at least I won't lose any money if it isn't for me, I will check it out Thanks again!
