Is there a difference between Diction by Kranzo and Word Sight by Devin Knight? They appear to be similar.

A big difference, with my version no numbers are called out. The participant's merely think of words off a list of 200 words and look the meanings up. Nothing is said or written down. The performer has no clue as to what page they may be reading from.
Also any dictionary can be used and it still works. Devin |

I found Diction simply unworkable and parted with it...it may be fine for others, but simply did not sit well with me and the expectations I have about my audiences.

To each his own. As Devin has pointed out the only real similarity between them is that they both (along with about 50 other book tests) use a dictionary. Otherwise the methodologies and other features are completely different. Although I agree with Dr. Todd that Word Sight is in several respects superior to Diction, I have a higher opinion of Diction than he does and consider that each has its advantages for certain situations -- e.g., IMO Diction is better suited for carrying in your pocket for "walk-around" or the occasional impromptu performance, while Word Sight is better for stage/cabaret platform.

I have Diction, but I think it is a language issue. I have only used it once, but I have plans to make it work with a Norwegian dictionary. How is it with Word Sight? Is it supposed to work best with the English language or will it work with other languages too?

You can easily make both work in any language.

For me, it is not language, but math
One of my guests in the audience was a math teacher last night...without tipping anything, I simply do not think Diction would have impressed....as Dick says..'to each his own...' Dr T |

I can see how wordsight would play well onstage but I think it's great for close up ,infact maybe even easier than on stage , as long as you don't make it obvious when your doing the sneaky thing you do.
