I don't have it. But just watching the trailer, I have no inclination to purchase it. It didn't show anything really. Not my favorite.

Sorry you feel that way Chris.....
I've seen the DVD, and had the pleasure of spending some time with Tristan. There is some VERY UNORTHODOX magic on this disc, and what's shown here is just the tip of the ice berg. This guy has some phenomenal magic. Here's a nice example of Tristan's thinking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYHArh_Wg4s&feature=related Yeah, he is doing what you think he's doing, and yeah, it's a lot harder than it looks. Trust me, I've tried..... This isn't an Ellusionist quality product, but the information is great, the material will force you to create ways to add this magic into your own repertoire and will challenge you to take your skills to the next level. NOT for the faint of heart.

Good to know it is a good product. I suppose I am used to the big magic companies spending time with the editing, which isn't fair of me. But I do still wish it showed more of what the DVD is about. It's impossible for me to tell whether or not it's up my alley, know what I mean?

That looks good! And very difficult!
Eric, Is that just coincidence or intentional that the name is a mix of two of your releases? Sean |

Did you just see what happened on that trailer? This guy just took a coin, made it vanish wih ONE hand, showed it FRONT and BACK and made it reappear. Dude, what more do you need? How about that slap spellbound change on his leg? A coin changes without him ever even having to pick it up. Come on..... Guys don't let the lack of quick edits, catchy music and distracting visual effects take away from what's really important: the magic.

I gotta tellya, this is my kinda magic. I like the no-frills stuff, that's what I do too pretty much. I like what I've seen of Tristan's work here, the guy is clever and is on a good road IMHO.
And I just gotta say as to all the slick productions nowadays as to presenting magic (and there are some good ones out there for sure), I would agree here to not let any lack of high-intensity sizzle & POP make you think anything less-than about this or that. Believe me, Beyonce is just as HOT without all that perfective makeup and glam. Don't get me wrong, it's nice but it's behind all that that the real beauty and work is. I'm just sayin'. Good work Tristan.

I think it wouldn't have been construed otherwise if we were talking face to face, but its hard to pick it up via internet. So I meant no harm. As for the DVD, it seems pretty cool, but it doesn't seem like something I would use. And since I only buy one DVD a year or so, this wouldn't be one I would be comfortable picking up. But I wish Tristan the best of luck! |

Eric is absolutely correct about performers, especially magicians, becoming spoiled by technology. There was a great question from Paul at Elmwood Magic in a recent e-mail that said, in part, "Do you remember those things called books?" Such a great question because although I am still quite relatively young, even I can remember a time when everything (in the magic world) was learned from books. I have nothing against DVDs and things of that nature, and they really can be helpful and very useful, but in many ways, books still outshine them by far. Most of the things related to magic that I learned all came from books.
As far as a source for this DVD goes, I know Elmwood Magic carries it for sure. That is the only place that I have seen it offered as of late, but I have not really looked anywhere else. I look forward to getting this myself and checking it out. |

This looks absolutly rock hard to learn, especially the link that Eric Jones posted. I don't think I would have the patience to master this. It looks AMAZING though!!!

Tristan Rory fried me several times at a convention in NY. His handling of coins is phenomenal. The information you receive with the DVD is MORE than enough for what the price is. Sexy funky coin magic.

THAT is exactly the type of magic I strive to do; it looks simple, and completely impossible at the same time !
