For any Springsteen fans on the Café, join me tonight in saying a prayer for friends and family of Clarence Clemons. He passed away today due to complications of a stroke suffered this past week. He will be sorely missed!

I'm not a religous man, but Clarence will be in my thoughts today. I first saw Clarence when he was the new guy with the group at the Main Point coffee house in the early 70's, and the rocked the roof off that little coffee house. RIP Clarence

Hey Al, Thanks for sharing!
I've been a fan since 1979 and have probably seen ten Springsteen shows in the past five years, including closing night (of a two and a half year/two album tour) in Buffalo NY in 2010. It's hard to believe that Clarence is gone! There is no other band (while growing up) that was a part of my life like the E St. band. A sad time indeed. Jorey

On that video Clarence got Jackson brown to fill in because the E St band was on sabbatical, and Bruce was recording a solo album.
Before Clarence met Bruce he was a defensive lineman for the New Jersey Generals.

The first time I saw Bruce he did not have a recording contract. All he had was two demo recorde, and only one DJ in the whole country playing them.

First time I saw him he came rising out of a coffin (in the middle of the stage) on Halloween in 1980. I haven't looked back since!

I'm glad I got to see Clarence live with the E-Street Band before he passed. He was one of a kind, and one of the great sax players. He will certianly be missed.
