More First Amendment Issues. What say you? Students created phony online personas for their principals and teachers. From what I can recall the case law on this kind of thing is all over the place:

As long as it's somehow obvious that the online persona is indeed "phony", then I have no problem with it. Why not? I'm sure Penn would agree.

Is libel not a consideration here? How about the asymmetry of it? The teacher has no way to fight back.

They could even pulls stunts like sending sexual requests from me to my students, all in good fun--but the target doesn't realize the whole thing is a joke and...you can see the harm that could be done. But I have no problem with site like "rate your professor". |

Of course, that wouldn't be very professional. If it's made to look serious then it should be held to the same standards as any other form of libel and dealt with accordingly. Still, if I was with that school I would notify the parents if they haven't been. And if I was the parents then those kids would get a stern talking to. Maybe they can go on Dr. Phil?

This would all be much less of an issue if kids weren't forced into schools.

You're right. They should just wander around around stupid.

Dreadnaught, the options are not just have them "wander around stupid" or force them into school.
I'm not even saying they shouldn't be in school, just that forcing them is not beneficial. Then again, I'm not surprised you think the real solution to a problem is force.
