I am looking for silks of flags of the world. I have looked at many websites and had no luck. Perhaps it is because I don't mess with silk magic very much. I have around twenty generic silks for my effects but not much else. I do not want or need an American flag silk. I already use Old Glory for my closer. Thanks for the help.

I went through this. You will find magic dealers who sell production streamers, different sizes of flags of the world. Many flags are available cheaper at web sites, but few of them, if any, are true silk. If you can get a very fine rayon, that is not bad actually. Cotton and nylon are pretty stiff.

Look at Duane Laflin's web site. He certainly has what you are looking for. His web site is www. laflinmagic.com

Thanks for the info but I tried them and did not find what I am looking for. I need the flags to be at least 18' and preferably 24'.

Here's a tip a fellow magician told me about Samuel. Make your own designs, flags, clipart, etc, with your own inkjet printer. I have done only one and must say it is kind of amazing to see the results. Take a 9 inch silk (which is somewhat smaller than 9 and "tack" it an 8x11 sheet of label paper with the sticky side holding the silk. Recover the sticky part of the sheet with paper or the origin backing coated paper. I prefer using regular paper. Now carefully insert the "sheet" into the hopper and print. I did a flag, for a school show and it came out great. Let dry and careful not to smear until complete. I used a yellow silk and I am thinking of getting some white ones to make more.

That sounds like the best idea I have found so far, I'm gonna try this on my 8 by 11 printer, and then on my 17 by 14 printer. I have tried the sharpie and didn't like the outcome because of the art classes I didn't take. I should be able to get a 16" silk in my larger printer??? any good ideas for good price silks for this?

Dennis plz let us know how this works out for you.
I am not clear on the instructions. Are you peeling off the labels as one sheet and affixing this to the silk? How does the silk end up after you peel it off. Thnx, B

I will have to update you as I will be doing it within the next few days, I do know you can buy full sheets of adhesive paper or different size labels, furtunately I already have both, I need to find a good supply of 12 and 18" plain silks at a decent price for the experiment, I'm also going to try the tshitr transfer!

I'm thinking a T-shirt transfer will make the silk MUCH stiffer and bulkier. If that's OK for your purposes, go for it, but don't expect that 18-incher to still fit in your TT...
(I haven't actually tried this with a silk, but I have used them on...well..T-shirts!) |

I have tried it before with a slightly different delivery method (ironing the silk onto waxed paper) and it ripped my silk and jammed up my printer. Maybe try it first on an enemy's printer in case it goes wrong.
I will be playing with screenprinting onto silks soon. I'll post my results. Erick

Fellow Café member Richard Hughes might be able to hook you up with something. If nothing else, he can custom make them for you. Custom work may be where you're headed if Laflin's "Jumbos" weren't big enough.
