I am watching old family films and, at the end of one is a small clip of a man at The Everglades Showplace (3001 State Road 84, Ft. Lauderdale), wrestling an alligator. He is thin, wirey about 35 with dark hair. The film is about 1968. Does anyone have any idea who this could be?

Jeremy,
Bless your Heart! Thanks for your comments. I guess you did'nt know that I am "Swamp Girl" Anyway, I have spent 98 percent of my years in South Florida and have had a wee bit of experience handling Gators. Billie's is the most prominent attraction in this area that presents a gator show. Last year at another venue (Not Billie's) they held a Gator Championships. I attended but was Not pleased with the conditions I witnessed so I departed. I understand that event is no longer active. Here are some Pics: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/wo......me=World Rolling a Gator over and rubbing the belly does not put it to "Sleep". I causes unconsciousness due to the structure of the gators brain encapsulated in fluid. After numerous times of this the creature suffers brain damage. This information is part of the teachings from the (transplanted) Blackfoot that taught me. I also teach Gator handling as part of my staged combat classes to actors while using a 5 foot stuffed Gator toy. Enough information. Well, Billie's been in this area a good many years and perhaps he knows who you speak of. Best of luck to you Lad, Cindi http://dancingwithbulls.yolasite.com/ |
