I'm pretty certain most of you were making $5 hats when you first started out. Incidentally, (re: to my comment about going out last Sunday) you know what's worst than rain on the day you want to go out? Threatened rain! It was cloudy and drippy all day and I stayed home waiting for the rain... and it never actually did!!! It just kept dripping a little all day long!

People thnk that working the streets is easy and it is if you can do it. They think its easy because they can. There are little requirements to walk out there. Its staying there that's the tough thing. Working the streets is the most difficult venue on magic....

Thanks to EldonFowler I really have seen how this place is. What? You have no complaints about your job? I bet flipping burgers gives a few grease burns. Doesn't mean you don't love what you do.
It's like a bad marriage. You love her but she has her good side and her bad side. All jobs have their ups and downs and the seem to equal out. See my comment on similes. I'm having so much fun I have got to get out of hear. Ya'll have fun. |

It was a weekend long festival & I thought I could do this for the weekend. I invited another street performer in town & a mentor to come along. It wasn't long & we were asked to leave by the park cop. It ruined my day & my whole weekend. So I learned the hard way, if I don't get permission in advance, I don't do it. Do whatever Bobby Maverick says in regards to festivals. |

Friday, I believe your mistake was not that you crashed it, but that you didn't just go alone versus inviting the whole neighborhood to busk along with you....one perhaps, but three buskers aren't going to go unnoticed...tsk, tsk!
I've done guerrilla busking various times with only a few setbacks...keep trying guy. |

The question is, why not go where you're welcome. And find out where you're welcome? Doesn't that make sense?
The guys who make a living busking take this seriously. We're not interested in going someplace and being turned away. that's just not good business. want to work a festival ask permission. Go to one of their festival meetings and do some magic for them. Chances are if you're any good you will be welcomed. If youre talking about a pitch that's not a festival and its your home town or someplace close by and they wont let you work then fight. Contact the ACLU and go after them if after trying to work it out they still deny you your constitutional rights. I have made a living for 20 years busking, I take it seriously! |

Your
Here's the real problem. Its the mindset of amateurs to go "unnoticed". The whole point of doing what we do is to get "noticed"! This what I have been banging the drum about all along. STOP acting like you're trying not to get caught (like A CRIMINAL) and start acting like a professional who belongs exactly where you are. |

I've busked many many times in Phoenix and I seldom dressed down to accommodate the heat...get out of the kitchen if you can't stand the heat is apparently what the exported juggler did when he fled eh Ekuth?
Try busking by "Alice Cooperstown" before and after the ballgame guy! Stay cool Ekuth! |

Lads, if you really are out there, you know it matters not at all how much heat you can handle.......but how much heat and how long your AUDIENCE is willing to stand in the swelter. Think about it.

To be clear on my end Stperformer as I cannot speak for anyone else...when I busk in Phoenix it is a few quick routines and off you go I say. I also have various umbrellas around to hand out to my guests...not kidding. I always consider the comfort of my guests and I'm always less comfortable than they are.
