We have a new Independent Author from France on The Magic Nook, named Manuel Magie. His first offering is called "Snow Globe," which naturally enough started off as yet another way to reveal a chosen card (forced). However, I see it as a Crystal Ball Minor which can fit into a variety of story-telling themes. For example, as a poor struggling student of the occult arts, my first crystal ball was a plastic water filled Snow Globe. The Snow Globe is then unwrapped from a handkerchief and used to make a face appear floating in the swirling inner snow storm, or cause a clue to a mystery to appear inside, and so on. The spectator can see the symbol or face appear, and then it is gone. After being used in this manner, the Snow Globe can be handed around to "collect auras" or some such, while quietly being examined. Then once again some spirit or object appears within and just as qiuickly vanishes before the Snow Globe is wrapped up and put away.
These alternate uses for the Snow Globe are offered as suggestions within the e-Book, which is the first of our e-Books being offered both in an English language version and a French language version. We welcome Manuel Magie to our site and hope he will continue to provide thought provoking effects for close-up use in the future.

Looks like a great effect. I ordered it to use in the funeral home. Imagine the looks on the families face when I can make their loved one appear in a snow globe. If they paid the bill I'll put them peaceful and in heaven and if they owe me then to hell they go.... red snow and all. Love it!

I just got my copy of the .pdf and the card imprints at the end of it is well worth the price for the whole .pdf file. I can see a lot of possibilities with this effect.

To change the color of the snow from white to...whatever... would currently require a second Snow Globe and some sleight of hand. However the same company that makes the Snow Globes has some that look seriously like Crystal Balls, and they are large enough to get inside to do some serious work on them to divide them in half for a more self-working color change.

Balaram, Spellbinder is correct. It would require either a switching out of the globe or a modified globe (which I would go for). I was thinking about using the principal of the effect with a 2 liter drink bottle and try to make a 3 change globe. Could show it empty, scene one, empty again, and a different scene. Not sure if it would be able to be done with my level of construction but the idea is solid.

Notice that if you leave the bottom covering off, you can insert and remove things on the fly, especially under cover of that handkerchief.
