Anyone pick up a Harlequin Lemon Box by Dave Powell and can share a review?
Here is the advertisement: It's completely examinable and does not work like a Lippincott Box ! Use it for Ring in Lemon, watches or predictions. The performer places a wine glass on the table and borrows a finger ring from any spectator. The ring is placed in the folds of a handkerchief and given to the spectator to hold over the mouth of the wine glass. He can actually feel the ring through the handkerchief and is told to hold onto it tight. The performer produces a small locked wooden box and sets it in full view of the audience. The spectator is asked to drop the ring into the glass. The spectator lets go of the ring and it is heard to clink as it drops into the glass. The performer immediately whisks away the handkerchief from the glass and it has vanished! The spectator is then handed a key, and he unlocks and opens the box himself. Inside he finds a he finds a lemon, the magician produces a knife which is thrust into the top of the lemon as the impaled lemon is removed from the box .The lemon is cut open to reveal his ring in the center! The beautifully hand-crafted walnut box with inlay measures 3.5 inch by 3.5 inch) Decorative key hole and feet made of Hand cast pewter http://www.powellmagic.com/shop/index.ph......ct_id=88

I just received this the other day so I haven't performed it yet. But it is a beautifully crafted prop. Originally I did not receive the instructions, and slightly misled by the advertisement, I couldn't open it. So it is deceptive. The wood is very elegant, as are the inlays. The lock hardware is also first rate. The routine supplied is what you would expect it to be. This box will withstand very close examination. If you don't mind the cost, you will be getting a very nice piece that would connote elegance in a ring or anything in lemon or walnut type of effect.

Thanks for the review John.
Sounds like a higher end quality piece made of the finest materials so I may have to pick one up.

You have to use small lemons, I have found out. That can be a bit of a challenge finding one the right size, in my experience.

Can someone give a good review of the Harlequin Lemon Box? I wonder if the price justifies the effect.... or the price relates more about the quality of the box...
Thank you, lucas |

I've been thinking about buying this for awhile. My interest is not so much for the lemon trick but for loading a prediction as I believe it loads differently than the usual. Certainly beautifully made piece of kit. Would like to hear how large the load could be, i.e. a small medallion or vial

It will hold a small lemon, so it will certainly hold a small vial. Depending on your definition of small, of course. Think "clementine", if you are familiar with this fruit.
John PS, I have seen Hocus Pocus have this for an outrageously low price on at least one occasion. |
