My name is Sean and I am a magic/mentalism hobbyist and I am really excited for slyder to come out. I peform mainly for friend and family, butI had an idea of a stage presentation of slyder and am hoping to get some thoughts on it.
At the beginning of the show the performer will hand an audience member a mailing envelope with something inside. At the end of the show I ask the audience member who has been holding on the the package the entire show to come up on stage, stating you almost forgo they had the package and that you were "lucky" to remember. The presenter then says something along the lines of, "Speaking of Lucky, one of my favorite vacations of all time had to be a trip to Las Vegas." The performer then pulls out a Las Vegas themed book mark and says "On the back of this book mark I have a list of casinos in Las Vegas. I am going to move the "paperclip" down the bookmark and at any time I want you to call stop (performing slyder). The spectator calls stop and the performer then shows that the spectator stopped at Aria. The performer then asks the spectator to open up the package he has been holding onto the whole time and inside is a deck of cards from the Aria Hotel and Casino. The performer thanks him for his help and the deck of cards is given away as a souvenir. I have always been a big fan of the prediction that can't be switched, whether it's hanging from the ceiling or a member of the audience is holding onto it the entire time. I figured using slyder could help me with performing one of these type of effects. Another thing I like about this trick is that the deck is given away to the spectator. I believe that every time he or she uses the deck they will remember the show and you the performer. Another idea I had was that also in the "package" could be your business card that has a little message saying something like "Thank you for participating in the demonstration. Enjoy the gift." Not only is the spectator getting your business card, but they will have a personal connection with it because of the effect. I am going to assume that this would work because I watched Sankey's "GAGA" demonstration video he posted on his youtube page and in that demonstration, the prediction matched. Also, I believe that it's been stated that a prediction will match 100% of the time If you guys could give me some feedback for this handling/presentation of slyder , that would be fantastic. Thank you very much. Sean. |

You should be aware that this gimmick is hardly new. The basic idea goes back to the late 1930's. It's most popular recent application appeared in Barry Richardson's wonderful "Theater of the Mind" in a phone book test.

Thanks for the idea Scott, but you should be aware that you cant talk about methods in here, especially when that product isn't available yet.
As Bob saids, this principle is an old idea and should be respected. Keep creating and if you want to share other thought , find the "Inner Thought" forum in here.
