This is a true story. It is short and I am the idiot in it....but I think it will make you smile.
I opened the blue box of cards and took out the double facers and thought hmmm, most of my cards have red backs, I'll have to get some others. Danny |

Trying to noodle that through.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

So your mind categorized double facers from a blue box as distinct from double facers from a red box?
If I understand you correctly, that's what happened. ~Nick |

I've ordered double facers and put a special note to the dealer, "Please make sure they are red backed."

There was a thread here a while back where a newbie asked a similar question. I just sat back and watched...mostly because I might have asked a similar question not all that many years ago!

Well, the way I read it, double facers don't have backs...so, thinking about them being red or blue would be unusual.

As a dealer I have sold hundreds of decks of double face cards. I am afraid that I could never resist, when asked for one over the counter, to ask if they wanted red or blue back? Everybody fell for it and everyone gave me that "I've been had" glare a couple of seconds later.....sigh.....

I've done it before...was at my B&M buying double facers, I was at the register when I said, "Wait...the deck these are going with is blue backed..." (it was a red backed box), the manager walked back, got be a Blue back box and it wasn't until after he rung me out that we both had realized what happened.
Looking at the thread, it looks like I'm in good company. |

LOL.........But, is it not true that we 'key' to the color of the box? Blue box, blue backed cards inside. Really, it's that fact that makes the Color Changing Deck possible or at least stronger when the deck is pulled from the box, etc.
It's pretty funny though. Here's another one I've had fun with. I'd have two red/blue double back decks ready one in a red box and one in a blue box stored with the regular double backers. When someone would ask for a 'RED' double back deck I would pull out the red/blue deck in the blue box. Open the box and show the deck was blue backed. They'd correct me, of course, saying that no they wanted RED. I'd put the deck back in the box, shake the box and pull the deck out now red backed. Fan cards to show all red, etc. As I closed the deck I'd half pass the bottom third so I could turn the deck over and show a bunch of red cards, etc. Basically it was the easiest 'All Backs' routine of all time. Eventually, yes, I would tip what was going on by "changing" the deck to red/blue and getting them the deck they wanted. It always went over quite well and I even sold some red/blue decks to guys who wanted to mess with the concept. The moral of the story: When USPC Company started to make factory 'gaffs' it was one of the great events in magic...well, for some of us with really low expectation of what is a 'whoopie' moment in life.... ;-) Best,
Brad Burt
