Hello ventriloquist friends,
I am trying put together a technical cue sheet for an upcoming show but I'm a little lost. Does anyone have one they wouldn't mind sharing so that I can see if I'm on the right track. Thanks, Sarah

Sarah,
I now follow the Ken Groves' school of tech - don't give them a chance to screw it up. I suggest you contact Mark Merchant. He'd probably be able to help. Tom |

Tom, you also have to remember when it comes to tech stuff, nothing is fool proof if you have a big enough fool!

One of the most important rules, I feel, is to keep all that you do simple yet effective. Write your shows so you have very little cues, and if they are needed , they should be easy to follow for any crew guy or gal. The more complicated..the more chances to have a breakdown in communication. The sound or light people can only use what you give them...they don't know you or your act well enough to improvise..so complicated cues means you have a complicated act and that could spell trouble with the wrong crew working the show for you. Simple but effective wins the day!

Totally agree with Mark. KISS is the basis of most success stories, IMHO:o)

Cat lady;
If you look at the old Three Stooges Movies I believe that Moe handles it quite well. When the other two Stooges missed a que, you have the option to either smack them in the back of the head, or grab a nose and pull hard. IMHO |

I agree with Mark too = keep it simple.
If you have tons of sound cues, it would be better if you could control the sound yourself. The more cues, the more chance to mess up. Simply put, you need a sheet that lists the music cues and sound cues side by side with very specific cues. For sounds, make sure you list sound cue in and out. For example "When I look for volunteer, play track 3. Play until we are back on stage then fade down. When I say Thanks for helping, play track 3 until they are back to their seat" or similar.

Thanks guy. I've cobbled something together. I don't have that many cues anyway so it will be very simple. Thanks for your input!

I guess the Three Stooges School of sound and lighting was not the resolution you were looking for
