I'm still finding that perfect ending....
Working my current ending is improving quite a bit...I play it up a whole lot and getting consistent responses (the hat is always consistent)... I saw Ramon out there and his finale is coin through bottle...I think it's phenomenal but we can't have two guys in the city do the same ending...

Having never seen Ramon's coin/bottle routine, I would ask is it similiar to Richard Osterlind's? He has a wonderful coin through bottle effect with a regular bottle. You wind up smashing the bottle at the end, so you finish clean.

You can catch him on youtube, but of course nothing replaces being there in person.
Here is one the clips that I found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_8XulGTJ64 But check out some other clips... I've seen this guy performing in NY long before I've even heard of the Café'...

How about a card stab?
or card in balloon, or whatever is in your pocket! or card on ceiling...outside.
Nothing would get done at all, if man waited so long that no one could find fault with it.

I really do not think that coin in the bottle is a very strong finisher for a myriad of reasons Mr. Carlos.

Magic Manuel, that's my case in point. I have multiple selection card routine
that gets huge reaction; so huge that I often get them to stop clapping so I can go into my finale (other wise some people think that's it). So I was considering in making that routine my finale...now, either to move my rope routine to the middle or just drop it from the act...(for some reason I like it...). So are you suggesting to continue with that end with something like a card stab...or whatever? Devious, I agree with you as it is more or less a standard effect to us magicians but the point is that he has and is already doing that and has been for years and makes him...him. It's his routining, build, and how he closes in what he makes it great to me...magicans' (that have seen him) and lay people a like always say his show is good and remember his show...you have to see it live...a lot of times video just simply doesn't do a person justice unless it is carefully shot and edited. So being that he is already doing it; I can't see myself doing the same thing...

I thought that the idea was that you forgot a prop and wanted to fill in with what you had on yourself.
I think that the multi card selection is a very strong effect, but if you want to add some flash you could do an in-the-hands stab for the last card. If you want them to stay tell them you have an encore effect before you do the last reveal, then say the encore is called the "hat trick". Show the hat empty then pull out a little red scarf from the hat(TT) and say "ok now there is plenty of room for twenties" jmk
Nothing would get done at all, if man waited so long that no one could find fault with it.

The problem is not the trick it is what it has to do. a finale trick should build and build - use people and use the audience as helpers. look at what the unicycles juggler do.
1) they introduce the bik 2) the get some helpers 3) they instruct the helpers 4) they explain they are going to juggle 3 knives 5) they instruct a lady to throw the knives 6) the get on the guys - then on the bike 7) the ride a round 8) lady throws knives 9) money lines 10) juglle for one minute 11) get of the bike there is a natural build here. magicians think in tricks. START THINKING IN BUILDING THE FINALE AND CREATE AN EFFECT FOR IT. see video of Gazzo or nick nickolas doing the c & B. it is not the trick alone. see how the stall stall and stall the ending. creating a need for curiosity to see the end now. |

Actually, you post motiviated me to stick with it and keep working it. I was contemplating abandoning it; as for some effects/routines it's easy for the creative process to just work...other effects...it's harder... Thanks again...
