Well you should have invited them over to your place for a party or a game of poker.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Getting hit with the outer bands now. Been watching the tv and putting away the patio stuff. Although not in the direct path of Irene (hour west of Philly). Still expected to be bad in the wee hours.

Here in central CT we're preparing to really get it over the next 5 hours. It's just raining hard so far tonight. But it doesn't look like hype. This stuff is really happening. Messing with the first week of my college tour that's supposed to start on Monday though. No colleges have cancelled yet, so fingers crossed...

Gamed a couple hours ago with someone in Maryland. Heard the thunder rolling long and loud occasionally from their basement where the family was hold up.

Here in Brooklyn last night there were strong sheets of rains with occasional gusts of winds--a strong storm, perhaps, but not what I would call a hurricane. Trees were swaying but not breaking, lots and lots of water running down the street gutters.
This morning it's almost like a normal summer rain--if I didn't think it could get worse, I wouldn't mind going out walking. I haven't lost my Internet, phone, or electric service at all.

Irene just past over my home here near Atlantic City. Power is still on, no significant damage, 7" inches of rain, rabbits and doves are ok.

Not much wind here in northwest NJ but a lot of rain. Started raining last night around 7 and no at 10:30 AM it's still coming down. No power outages in my area but my basement was flooded.

A lot of people in New England are out of power... so far, (knock formica) we're not one of them.

We're OK. It got downgraded to tropical storm before it got here but still knocked out a lot of power.

Here's weird, apparently if you have "hurricane" insurance, there's a larger deductible if you are actually hit by a hurricane as opposed to being hit by a "tropical storm." Since Irene was downgraded before hitting Rhode Island, that larger deductible doesn't go into effect.
