Does anyone have and use this trick. I love “Dime and Penny” so I just ordered “Nickels to Dimes” and was looking for a review.
At 4 bucks you can't beat the price. Is it completely examinable? Can you do other effects with it? Thanks for any replies, Brian |

It depends on who made the set. Most come from China now and seem to be passable. Avoid handing them out.
I don't really like this one myself, and it is also too available due to the price. Spectators however really like it a lot. There are versions in nickels, quarters, and half dollar size. The half dollar size is called Halves to meatball, and is large enough to produce bigger items. Viking also makes a Pro grade version that runs around $25. When I was using mine a lot, (I have three, but all three were bonus ones given with other orders), I did a patter about being hungry and changed the nickels to a mini marshmallow, which I poked down into my fist and changed it to a regular marshmallow. F**** palming getting rid of the mini. I put it on a toothpick and lit it with a lighter. As it flamed up, I produced from the air a large chocolate coin and a piece of graham cracker and proceeded to eat them… a lot of work for a simple 1-minute effect. I have not done this for about a year now. To avoid detection keep the brass shined to a mirror polish.

Is this trick impromptu or does it require set up?
Thanks, Brian |

As with most prop magic, you will need to be ready, and it’s not immediately repeatable without doing something.
Of course you wouldn't repeat it anyways would you?

I don't know about your area, but over here that is a trick dealers sell the most to all their customers. It is so common I haven't performed it for years.

There are no shops in my area. Although I know this is a basic trick I can't help but think that it would kill most people as long as the cap is examinable.
“Dime and Penny” is a similar trick and it's my favorite to use in impromptu situation and I have yet to run in to anybody who knows or can figure it out. I think we as magi forget how little the general public knows about magic and gaffs, even with the exposure shows on TV. Brian |

Over the last few years I have been going back to using American Pocket Change in my routines.
If you think about it a while I am guessing you can come up with a non gimmicked way to do it. 1. Pinch vanish 2. Roberts or delayed sleeving. 3. Squeeze Purse as a hold out for lots of dimes for a "Big/Little finish. Harris Deutsch Laughologist
