They are now saying there is a risk of a radioactive leak.

An explosion rocked the Marcoule nuclear plant in southern France on Monday, the country's nuclear safety body and local authorities said.
The blast appears to have taken place at an oven used to melt metallic wastes of "low or very low level" radio activity, according to a press release from the Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire, the French nuclear safety authority. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/worl......2162103/ Apparently no reactors are on site (it is a recycling plant and not a power producing one).

Oh right it is only a major site involved with the decommissioning of nuclear weapons.

Move along now, nothing to see here. You can go home now...
Yeah, right. France depends on 53 Nuke plants that America foisted on them way back in time. Do you think they want to scare their constituents, let alone cause international alarm? After all, America's pundits work relies on rallying about how France is "so far ahead of us when it comes to nuclear." "We should be more like France when it comes to nuclear." Then how come we have to bring their high level nuke waste here to dispose of it? I'm sure if we could just ship our waste to some other country we would start building nukes again. Sorry folks, but you don't read the news of other countries that have to do battle with French attempts to dump nuke waste of the shores of Africa. That is what the "pirate" thing was mainly about. Most were attempting to stave of becoming a dump site. Now, go back to sleep. Everything will be okay...

Not to trouble anyone with the facts, but the French nuclear plants were designed, built, and are operated by a French company that is largely owned by an official, public entity, the CEA. They were not foisted on the French by anybody. The program got going in a big way after the oil crisis of 1973. France derives 80% of its electricity from nuclear power, and exports nearly 20% of the electricity generated by her nuclear power plants. The comment about the cause of Somali piracy does not require formal refutation.

I was at the hearings held in Chico California as to the arrival of French nuke waste steaming into SF bay, loaded onto train and to be, and did, travel by rail up over the Sierras through Plumas County on a very windy and treacherous route. Any accident could have had catastrophic results and those counties were well aware of river contamination from the massive formaldehyde spill a few years earlier. The fuel rods, RODS, the most radioactive component of a power plant were shipped to a military base in Idaho. That power plant had a sever accident in the 50's or 60's that killed one or two workers and injured many others. The fuel rods throughout the world (free world) belong to the US and any means they wish to dispose of them. All countries have to comply to our desires. Why do you think they don't want Iran or Korea to have nukes.
Over the last thirty years I have attended over fifty hearings on nuclear issues for all agencies and testified at many. I brought the hearings for transportation of nuclear waste in California to a screeching halt when I accused Teledyne of falsifying evidence and they had to admit so. The Captain of the Highway Patrol was highly agitated and got an actual earful of the type of lies the nuclear industry is all about. Too much sun! I think not. Perhaps others might need to get out more.

Oh, here's another one.
Americium-241 found in soil west of Tokyo at 74 becquerels/kg — “Much more dangerous” than Plutonium-241 Come on nah sayers, where or how do we come in contact with Americium? You live with it everyday. It's in your smoke detector. More dangerous than Plutonium? Finally after twenty some years I find it in print in today's news. More to come for those that wish for proof. Truth is all about. Except in USA TODAY, NEW YORK TIMES, FOX NEWS. Oh, by the way S2000magician, The power plant you speak of must be the one they are TRYING to get off the ground in Georgia. Actual building has not begun contrary to any "news" you speak of. A majority of state will not allow new nukes to be built until there is a SAFE means of disposal. So yes, the US is constantly looking for other countries to take our waste for much need funds to run their haggard economies. Kazakhstan is the country we are trying to badger currently. Plans for building and building are two different things. Actually there are "plans" to build hundreds including one in your backyard. Thankfully there are those that stand to oppose then all and the deceitful industry as a whole. Magic Santa, they are in the process of desecrating your North Pole for a month or so of oil. You are okay with that? What makes you think either-or-or is all we get? Tweedledee and/or Tweedledum. No, nuclear is not the answer. We import 90% pus of our oil needs. We import 90% plus of our uranium needs, go figure. Ask a crippled uranium worker how green it is. I have, many. Go back to Tarbell and see if you can come up with a magical way to vanish nuke waste because all the kings men, the smartest scientists around the world have not been able to come up with one in over 65 years, and Einstein is dead. As one ill fated president(sic) once said, "Bring it on".

Just to clarify...
First, a company falsified evidence; Then, at a public hearing, you accused the company of falsifying the evidence; Then, in response to your accusation, that company's representative at the public hearing admitted to falsifying evidence? I had to step back and confirm that I read that right; I've attended many public hearings, and seen many public and private officials accused of all sorts of things, but I don't recall ever seeing someone respond to one of the accusations by admitting to having previously falsified evidence. Got a transcript or a video? I'd love to see that.
