Kaps' Floating Cork. Larry Jennings flew from L.A. to Oakland (about 500 miles) just to see Kaps do this.

Close up? Jimmy Finger's Magellan Lev can be done right in front of you! It's really a stage effect, but there you are!
Real close up lev's...hmmm, I'd have to pick The Wunderbar, and Kevin James' Floating Rose. If the lighting is right, those have been KILLER effects for me! Although, I have to admit, The Flying Box is a great trick even close up! Doug |

The original floating dollar bill that I saw as a kid in Romigs magic shop (Ferndale MI) kind of stuck with me through the years. It looked so unbelievable (it was with my borrowed dollar)! Bought it on the spot and still use a version of it in my parlor.

A previous post in this thread asks about the Tappan Doll.
I saw Peter Tappan perform this at the Abbott's Get-Together in 1980. He performed it seated at a table. From memory he had a small prop stage and the doll floated up and down. No idea whatever the reset or setup might be. He performed it once. It does not strike me as being a strolling piece but a formal close-up or parlour piece. |

One of my most impressive levitations is to levitate a borrowed ring between my fingers, directly from when they pass it to me, and then handing it right back to them afterwards.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
