I'm looking for the method but can't find this specific one. It was popularized by Doug Henning I believe and uses a wire to hold in pieces in the back. Does anyone know where I can find this?

It is called the "Anderson Torn and Restored Newspaper". It can be found any number of places.
One link to a DVD by Anderson on the trick: http://www.vikingmagic.com/?nd=full&key=651 Or if you want more than just the newspaper torn and restored try this DVD: http://themagicwarehouse.com/DV4053/Gene-Anderson.html And then there is Gene actually performing it on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTxGC1OiWFs
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!

It's Gene Anderson's News Paper Tear.
You can find it in his book, Gene Anderson's Newspaper Magic. There's a DVD too, if you are too lame to read a book. But the book has some other cools stuff in it. Randi |

I have been told the book has an error in it during the construction of the newspaper. Thus to get going at once it might be better to get the $20 video to prevent any confusion in the preparation. I know the book has been published several times, but the error has never been corrected.

What error is that? I know that the original instructions in the book has an error, but the back instructions that was sold as a single manuscript seem to correct it. Is there another that we are not aware of?

As Randi pointed out, the book has some nice additional information in it. Off the top of my head I know Hank Lee carries the book. If you watch a lot of other versions/variations on the newspaper tear effect, you will see a lot of ideas (among other things) being done that were used in or inspired by the Gene Anderson routine. This just goes to show how good his version is. |

The late Johnny Brown version of the "repeat" Gene Anderson Newspaper Tear is very unique. I have not seen any other person perform this repeat version of this effect.
Magic Inc. Publishes the book, why not purchase it from them, http://www.magicinc.net/newspapermagicre......per.aspx I see it is printed in a revised edition. |

I would caution on the gauge of wire that you use. I found out in practice that you don't want to use wire that is too thin.

You don't want wire that is too thick either or the newspaper will be too heavy. Don't use hangers. The wire you get in the hardware store is perfect. I can't think of the name right now, but I think Anderson covers that in the book.
