I will be in New Orleans for a week, from Sat. the 22nd thru Sat. the 29th. A good friend and I are going, celebrating our 50th birthdays! If anyone knows anything to do with magic there (stores, clubs, etc) please let me know. It does'nt seem to be much of a big locale regarding magic per se but we are both Saints fans and got tickets to Sunday nights game on the 23rd! Any must visit, restaurants, tours, etc please let me know. Will be there in less than a week!

There are at least 100 must-visit restaurants and bars in NOLA. What a great place. A liquor license costs $500 and there is no artificial limit on the number of licenses. There are no restrictions on hours - there are places that open at MN and close at noon. And the major boulevards feature drive-through daiquiris. The real Creole food is unique - a blend of Frnech, African, and Sicilian influences -- enjoy it!

Drop an email to Jon Racherbaumer. I know that the local magicians used to meet at a restaurant one night a week (or maybe a month). Seems like it used to be Bennigan's, but it's been a long time since I was there.

What happened to that right wing ex-military goth dude that was from there?
He'd know. He was a cool dude. I would go to any locations featured in the movie "Hard Target." But you must bring your mullet. What was the oyster bar from that Man v. Food? I would like to check that out. I loves me some oyster shooters.

Thanks for the replies and info.
Woland- Thanks and we plan to enjoy it as much as possible. Clinton- I will try to contact Jon, thanks. Critter- I think perhaps you refer to that guy named Dreadnought?? Good idea, I think he mentioned he was from New Orleans. Wow, been a real long time since Hard Target, LOL

Will be down there the same time. Enjoy yourself.
If you want an absolutely killer breakfast buffet, check out Court of Two Sisters in the Quarter. You won't regret it. |

Glen,
I'll be over in Biloxi, Miss. Will no doubt make a visit to the Quarter while we're there. Probably for a Pat O's night. Will be in Baton Rouge for when Auburn loses to LSU. Have a great time. Robert PS: If someone says they'll bet you $10 they can tell you where you got yo shoes, walk away. hahaha (We all got our shoes on our feet right?) |

I wonder how their Taco Bell or Burger King compares to ours here in Los Angeles? I'm such a creature of habit, they better have cheap fast food! LOL

New Orleans has a long tradition of busking.
If you are looking for crappy fast food send someone else there for you. Preferably someone who enjoys eating real food.

I was so totally kidding on the food thing. We're going to get so spoiled there during next week!

It is very sad, but I know people who only eat fast food, and when I talk to them about what they are missing they look at me like I'm crazy.
