Psychic fire costs 450.00 at hocus-pocus.com!!! That is extremely expensive, and it seems overpriced for the effect it achieves. I know form the description it's an electronic device that makes the matches ignite. My question is how practical is this, and how difficult is it to use?

Couldn't you create the same effect with chemicals?
It would be immensely cheaper if you could. Ask around. Kevin |

Kevin and crew,
Years ago, Tony Andruzzi published an effect called "Daemon Dirt." It was the ignition of some strange material in a flat, ungimmicked, tray. It's incidence of success was VERY low. Chemical ignition methods usually involve rather toxic substances and, in a close-up or seemingly impromptu situation, are hard to conceal and/or control properly. I would suggest looking into other methods. But I'm not a pyrotechnician, so take this for what it's worth, just an opinion. Lee Darrow, C.Ht.

Lee,
Later on Andruzzi changed the set-up to make it more fool proof. He modified the tray using glow plugs that would ignite the fireworks snakes which was the strange material. The entire set up is featured in the Flora video that Andruzzi did called "Bizarre" Brother Sanctum

I'm almost afraid to post this so I'll only give you sound advice on fire.
1) Air is made of mostly hydrogen , oxygen and a few other elements, no oxygen no fire. 2) Fire is nothing more than rusting very, very, very, fast. 3) Some Metals rust faster than others, any high school chemistry book ( and I saw this for the first time IN high school ) will explain the rest. This, as with any playing with fire IS dangerous I Must tell you there are much safer ways than using chemical iginition as keeping the chemical from igniting until the precise moment you want requires more than what HS chemistry teaches. Stick to the tried and true ($$$$$) methods. Mabee some flash ..... , ......... , .......... would provide enough of a simmilar effect and be much safer. |

However, it still had some problems as the material had to be set "just so" or all you got was clouds of bilious (and stinky!) grey-green smoke. One time I did do this, at a conference for police officers on Ritualistic Satanic Crime (I was debunking the whole thing), I wound up staring down the muzzles of over a dozen service revolvers. PM me and I'll fill you in on it. It was a glorious day! Tony loved the story, too! Lee Darrow, C.Ht.
