West has been on the scene all day representing her family as well as her love for the club! She Just came home and has this to report:
First, everyone got out safely, no one was hurt. Second, the Magic Castle has sustained some damage and will be closed for several days to repair the damage from the fire and smoke. BUT, it should reopen this weekend! |

As you may already know, the Magic Castle experienced a small fire this morning, starting in the attic above our administrative offices. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident, and the Los Angeles Fire Department was quick not only in responding to the scene, but in resolving the situation and minimizing the impact to the building.
The Castle has experienced some damage to its roof, as well as to some ceilings and fixtures. With sadness, therefore, the Board of Directors has decided to close our operations for the next several nights and, once our assessment is complete, will be announcing whether we'll be closed for business beyond that. We believe that insurance will cover any financial losses, and have notified our carriers. We, the Board of Directors, would like to sincerely thank the LAFD (for their usual excellence and going “above and beyond” with their help), the AMA staff (who reacted with great poise and professionalism), and also all the concerned members and friends we've heard from today. We want to assure everyone that we'll do everything we can, to get our beloved clubhouse back to her original condition as soon as possible. This message was approved by the Board of Directors. |

Sad....but it's good that no one got hurt, and that the damage wasn't worse than it was. I hope they can recover very quickly.

Pending approval by several City of Los Angeles authorities, the Academy of Magical Arts is planning to re-open the Magic Castle this coming weekend. Once these approvals are given, the first night of this "soft opening" will be announced.
The current plan is to open the Castle under some special conditions: - The historic Lane Mansion portion of the Castle will be closed; only the Glover Annex portion will be available, including the Palace of Mystery theater, the Parlour of Prestidigitation, the Inner Circle area and, thankfully, our world-famous William Larsen Sr. Library. - Due to our limited capacity, this opening will be for “Members + 1”; only members presenting valid membership cards will be admitted, with up to one guest. Since portions of the Castle will still be closed, and the Academy only wishes to give its guests the best possible "Castle Experience", no unescorted guests will be admitted for the time being. - Again, due to our limited capacity, we ask that all members call our reservation desk before coming up to the club; while we can’t serve dinner, our reservation desk can “count noses” and thus advise you as to whether we can accommodate your arrival. - Our normal dress code will be in full effect. - A new "Inferno Fund" is being started, and members wishing to financially help the Academy will be given the opportunity to do so throughout the annex during this opening. To repeat: This opening is dependent on getting approvals by several city authorities, which are expected soon but have not yet arrived. For the most recent information, please check our Website (www.MagicCastle.com) for more details as they become available. |

The Academy of Magical Arts is delighted to announce that the Magic Castle will re-open (some of) its doors Friday night, November 4th. This "soft opening" will feature our Parlour showroom, special (unticketed, first-come-first-served) shows in the Palace of Mystery, and closeup magic in the Peller Theatre. The Castle will be open on a "member +1" basis; only members (with valid membership card in hand) will be admitted with a single guest. No unescorted "guest pass" guests will be admitted. Our normal dress code will be in effect. Our regular valet service will be available. Members will check in at the front desk in the Castle lobby, where they may purchase tickets ($20, which includes tax) to a buffet offered from 6:00 to 10:00. Once they check in, they will enter the Glover Annex through the Inner Circle entrance, where they may enjoy access to all the theatres and bars throughout the Annex. Donations for our "Inferno Fund" will be accepted at the front desk and throughout the Annex as well. These next few nights will be some of the most exciting in Magic Castle history. They'll also be some of the most challenging, though, so we ask your patience and your help in sharing in this unforgettable experience. We look forward to seeing you there!
