Define "easy". Most bizarre magic consists of technically easy effects wrapped up in carefully thought out and rehearsed stories. This gets into Henry Hay's "easy-hard, hard-easy" dichotomy. The tricks themselves are simple. Making them "spooky" and carrying them off are the hard (but rewarding) part.
Read the works of Christian Chelman, Rick Maue, Robert Neale, Eugene Poinc, Eugene Burger, Docc Hilford to name a few. |

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have an ebook coming out soon that I think has some easy spooky stuff in it. I've been performing the material for about three years now and people seem to really like it, and they also get pretty spooked sometimes. It's called Seven Past Midnight and mostly written for women mentalists and bizarrists or whatever, but guys can adapt with a little creativity. BTW the list of talent above is awesome for what you want as well. And you should read Liam Montier's The Mark Of The Devil at http://www.BizarreMagick.com. I think it's still there and it's really spooky!

I would say The Mark Of The Devil works best with the Devil's sign. However, if there's a simple symbol that's associated with you, like on your business card or if you're wearing a shirt with the symbol on it, you could use it and act as though you are the Devil! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! <evil laughter>

Anabelle,
So when are you going to get your own website up with your ideas? I have enjoyed very much the ideas you've shared on the Café. Rick

To be honest I don't have that many ideas to share, at least not enough to have my own website I don't think. The ebook will be available through Alexandre's website (he's from the Café here) http://www.eyesandminds.com. He lives near me and I've become friends with him and his wife. He's building the ebook from my various notes as we speak! Just to add what was said up there, I think Brother Shadow has some great easy spooky effects too. I've seen his catalog and it looks like great stuff.

Anabelle, thanks for the mention! You know, I really didn't expect the amount of feedback for that effect that I got!
I look forward to Seven Past Midnight Anabelle, I'm sure it will be excellent... all your ideas have been. I'll just have to adapt the routines, or get a very expensive operation! Liam. |

Liam,
What can I say, just read The Mark Of The Devil. What a wonderful piece of theatre that is. Spooky, no it's much better than that. I am going to have fun using it. Thanks Liam and thanks Anabelle for the advice about reading this effect.
Best Wishes,
