I've used one of these and one of those, but I have never used this to vanish a silk.

Stick with a tt for short sleeve silk vanishs.

Unless you are wearing a tutu with a tt, but be careful that the pull doesn't pull anything you don't want pulled.

This is the very best way to vanish a silk. Don't use anything else, if you want to do real magic.

The Mirror Tube (name describes the working) won't be done very close up. However it can and has been used for a vanish. Stuff your large silk scarf into it, toss it into the air, and catch it. Viola the silk is gone! Or simply wave your hand in front of it and Betty’s you aunt the scarf has vanished!
You have to dispose of the prop pretty quickly after the vanish as there will be plenty of heat on it. Most people use it as a transposition with several silks turn into one (or one turning into several), or have several unknotted silks go in one end and come out the other knotted together (or vice versa). For the vanish of the silk, I’d probably do the toss, display the tube for a two count (very, very briefly) and drop it into my box. I’d immediately go to the discovery of the silk in the impossible location (tied around my ankle for example). The closer the audience the less deceptive this is.

It was more fun when we had no idea what you were talking about. However, the mirror tube will not make you happy as a vanisher because as Harry Murphy rightly points out, there is too much heat on it when the silk disappears. A better solution is my "Coin Bottle Silk Vanish" found in my Dollar Store Section, Book 2 of "Silk Vanishing Gimmicks." Effect: You remove a coin bottle from your pocket and hand it to a spectator to take the top off. You hand the spectator a silk and have the spectator poke the silk into the coin bottle. You then take the bottle from the spectator and place the top back on the bottle, again giving the bottle to the spectator to hold. At your convenience, you say magic mystic things and wave your hanjds or wiggle your fingers and have the spectator open up the coin bottle to discover for himself that the silk has vanished. I usually combined this with a 20th century silk ending, or made the silk show up again in a little locking plastic drawer box held by another kid on the other side of the stage.
