Hey guys,
As I said earlier, I created this to be used in casual settings. So, instead of randomly bringing headphone covers into play, they're already there. This is why I don't think microphone covers would be as organic. In some circumstances, sponge balls will work better than these; in others, the headphone covers are a better choice. With all that said, I trust Tom's knowledge tremendously, so all credits go to Michael Weber. I apologize for using this as my own for the short period of time. If you would like to see some of my original magic using an iPhone and headphones, I encourage you to check out the December issue of MAGIC Magazine. I published a cool take on Al Koran's Ring Flite that is very befitting of the times. Best, Jeff |

I like the idea of using headphone covers as spongeballs. ESPECIALLY if you take a lot of trips on airplanes where you can use those earphone covers. Personally, if you want to go the organic route with spongeballs- use a sponge. The kind you wash dishes with. Not the kind that has that rough side on top. Cut to size.

You guys are going about this all wrong. Instead of coming up with odd ways to justify our sponge balls, we need to get them into general circulation- become a household item that everyone uses everyday! In that way, we can use them with a clear conscience.
So let's put our heads together and come up with some good everyday uses for sponge balls. Passing a law that all earplugs have to be little sponge globes would be a start. Speaking of globes, how about fully-articulated sponge earth globes? Perhaps a professional sponge ball league- sort of like baseball but you could play it in any living room? Any others???

Jeff, you have nothing to apologize for. You independently came up with the idea. There's no reason why you shouldn't perform it. If you wanted to market it, that would be a different story. But you're not. So it's all good, man. Great minds think alike!
