Sealegs, that is an interesting perspective, very complicated, but interesting none the less.
As with Bob Driebeck's Die trick, it may be in the handling of the prop, and may be in a "Do As I Do" type of routine. I also think there may be needed more then one set of Boomerangs needed in the routine. Maybe even some differently designed Boomerangs along with the added feature already installed on the magic prop. On the few examples of video demos on the Internet, everyone handles the Boomerangs incorrectly, the audience cannot even understand what the person is saying is true. I also see this trick presented in a 'tongue in cheek' type of light hearted attitude, not a great magical mystery. As I mentioned, I don't see it being a feature trick to make history, but I think it has potential to be an entertaining routine of several minutes. |

OMG, Make Makers should be ashamed! I found the lowest priced Boomerangs on the Internet, at $8.99 a piece. I received them today and they are made in China. I guess the reports on the news is correct, China is producing junk for their clients in the USA.
One set was gouged on the top. One set was actually longer then the other, sort of spoils the illusion of the trick. One set did not have any of the grooves on the other side. All had the gimmick cut in the wrong place, and all had unequal groove lines, they were even spaced differently on the opposite side, and they were at the incorrect angle to match the gimmick cut. I do not recommend anyone purchase this prop at all. Out of 3 sets, not one was acceptable to use if you take pride in the props used in your shows. The only good thing I could say about the sets, was that the gimmicks all fit correctly and could be removed smoothly. Do not buy this Magic Makers model. |

There are a couple of pocket versions / close up versions out there, that have a nice ending.
Two bananas compared for size, turned over become a drawing of a monkey. Two caterpillars compared for size, turned over become a drawing of a butterfly. They are an idea from Ian Adair. Available in bulk from E-Z Magic, for magic classes, giveaways, magic kits, etc. More discussion on this thread. - Donald

Hi Bill! Happy holidays to you all!
I found this: http://www.chazpro.com/servlet/Detail?no=122 Hey, $5 ain't bad! It is a different idea with this, but again, the knowledge the public has of it could be a deterrent. Hope this helps! Doug |

Hee hee hee!
I have a BOOMERANG STICKS ROUTINE that I have been using for about 40 years on the road, in Kindergartens, Elementaries, Junior Highs, Senior Highs, Sr. Citizen Centers, Nursing Homes, and, even Adult Parties (!) [All over the USA, coast to coast and border to border.] It always gets a fine response! I had a beautiful P&L set, but sold them for a nice price) and, get along just fine with a set that I paid a dollar for. (OOPS! Another "Charlie Miller"!

When one consider's Dick's history of expanding and contracting routines to fit the show setting and time slot, he has actually been doing this trick for many decades.
"Which show did you like the best, the long one or short one?" "Not sure. Let's invite him back next year and check it out."

Thanks for the very kind words! I developed my routine after discussing the concept with my old friends, the late Roy Mayer, and, the late J. B. Bobo. I credit them for the original concept. I just "packaged" their idea!

I have seen 2 versions of the baffling boomerang for sale, 1 is from magic makers and 1 is from viking magic. I saw a post saying to not buy the magic makers version but I did not see why. Can people that knoww both versions chime in and say what the differences are in the 2 versions. magic maker version is 15.00 and viking magic version is 36.00 . I am going to buy a set and quality is more important than price but would like some input 1st

Than you for the response, when I saw you wrote "I found the lowest priced Boomerangs on the Internet, at $8.99" I thought it was a different one than MM. The MM version I saw in a shop was 15.00 and I was able to look at it and this one looked fine and the piece worked seemed to work ok. I would like to here from others that have or have seen the Viking magic version to get a feel if the larger price is worth it, in their opinion of course. Thank you again

Kcbeave, MM is a wholesale company with items made in China, they sell only to dealers, and offer huge discounts to create sales. So they show very high suggested retail pricing and give huge discounts to the dealers. Who would not want to buy something for $2 and told they can sell it for $25.
Viking Magic is an honest long time magic company. They sell nothing but quality products, and if someone is not satisfied they will stand behind their products. I would have purchased the Viking item, but at the time I was trying to see if it was an effect I could expand on, with an entertaining routine. In other words, testing the waters, before commenting. |

Picked up the Viking Baffling boomerang and the finish is much better and the fit is good and snug where the MM version I saw was a little loose. I think it's definitely worth the extra money for the Viking version.

Been playing around with these and so far I think the David Ginn routine about stretching and compressing them would work the best. Has anyone else used them in a better routine than Gin's?
