I talked to Andrew Mayne about the version that Hank Lee's is selling and he told me that it would be a lot cheaper to just make my own.
Here's my question. Where can I find the best plans on making one of these? How difficult would it be? How much money am I looking at spending to make one? Sorry, it's a lot of questions. Any information is greatly appreciated. -Corey

Andrew Mayne is being very honest with you. Think about it. Do you know the main gimmick that accomplishes the effect ? The only "plans" I know of are in Andrew's "Solo X" book. Look at those and adapt the design to your own needs. Obtaining the gimmick should be about $20.00 to 30.00 . Check local fabric shops for the appropriate amount of material for the curtain. Draw up a sketch of the mirror and frame. Get in touch with a local mirror/glass company and either make the frame yourself or have a wood worker do it. I'll bet the final bill will come in well under $1,500.00 . |

Just use the usual handy gimmick and a thin wardrobe mirror ($15 from kmart.) Make a simple base to hold the mirror up.

Why not use a frame of razor wire instead of the mirror ,easier to pack away and transport.

If you stick with the mirror, use plexi. I really like the barbed wire, razor wire idea though. I think being able to see the magician through the wire is a plus. Not to mention, in the audiences mind, no way to gimmick strands of wire, so would seem impossible.
Could also get a good laugh out of it if you dropped the cloth and your shirt or cloths were shredded. |

I just got this awesome walking thru mirror effect in which you show the mirror then 2 assistants cover it with spandex and the audience see your face and hands and legs then they pull it away and its solid, you repeat but then the assistants pull away and you see just your arm and leg (moving) thru the mirror! Then when it is place over you again you pass thru completely.
