I have no clue if I am posting this in the right section or not, but I needed to try. I am planning out the floor plan for a show, and have no idea how to properly space it. A folding chair is about 2 feet wide and maybe 18 inches deep when open. How much space should I allow between chairs for shoulder room, and how much space between aisles for walking room? Anyone have a clue? Thanks.

You shouldn't need to allow any space between chairs for shoulder room. And allow about 20 inches from front feet to back feet of the chairs.
When I taught highschool many years ago, that's the system we used. I don't think people have become MUCH fatter since then. |

I would check with your fire marshal as there are typically specific formulas for aisles depending on capacity and I believe the length of the row. I do remember that in continental seating with no aisles you have to allow more room between rows but they should be able to assist you with those numbers. In many markets that chairs must be secured together with zip ties or some other mechanical device. Again, I would start with the local fire marshal and if they don't have the information they can at least direct you to the best source.
