Anyone has this?
Plse let me know is this a good close-up trick. Looking for other monte effects besides cards! ____________________ This is a Monte game in which you use three dominoes with an original and ingenious technique, easy to perform and that does not require any manipulation. The magician shows 3 dominoes, two of them are double five and the other is a double one. After placing them face down on the table and mixing them up, a spectator is asked to try to guess the position of the double one. No matter what he or she chooses, they will always lose. A fine piece of magic handcrafted on acrylic

I just purchased this and didn't care for it at all though someone else might find it practical in the proper setting. I thought it sucked.

I bought this from Penquin Magic and the angles
are so critical it was unusable for my walkabout or closeup conditions. Penquin allowed me to return it so I must give them credit for that. The video demo was great because the camera was set on the best angle. That's one thing you have to be careful about when watching the demo's. If you have any doubts ask the dealer about the perfroming conditions before you buy an unknown prop. |

I like it. It fools magicians and lay people alike. You have to pick your venue like every other magic trick. The holes are explained by saying they were made in China and they saved money making them by using one die (mold) to make the dominoe instead of one die for each in a set. Everyone accepts this. I point this out before going into the routine.

I saw this effect live in Blackpool Convention 2003 and it looked very good.
Its angle sensetiv but in the right settings this is a fun thing to perform. |

This is a killer routine, however it is angley. despite this it can be done in the hands, I belive this is actually better ,, due to the fact that you yourself can control the angle that the people see the dominoes, if they get to close you angle them back, the further they go away (home if they get bored ..lol.) then the more leeway you can give yourself. I think its a great effect , semi-practical method, . p.s its killer if you put a sticker on the back and it still jumps. 7/10
magic is an art.admire others work, if you do not understand it, do NOT slag it off.

The little holes all over them just make them seem like cheap, tacky, gimmicked junk.
There is not a soul on the planet who wouldn't put that effect down to the fact that the dominoes are so blatantly irregular. Made in China? One mould? What does that mean? You can buy a set of cheap dominoes for about 50p and there are no holes in them. How on earth can you tell people that and excpect them to believe it? 'Oh, eh, don't worry about the holes they where made in China and in no way contribute to the magic you're about to see, honest.' Everyone accepts this? No they don't. They are being polite. Like the man up there said - do a card monte or better still, do Colour Monte with regular cards and see if you don't get a better reaction than you do with this kids toy. Dave.
