35 years ago I have used buttons like these to seal my letters:

As an alternative to using oil to prep your stamp, you can freeze the end by placing it on an ice cube. This seems to make the removal after stamping a little easier and there is no oil residue.

Hmm the ice thing could be an option too, but the stamp works, I tested it with success. Now all of you can make your own custom stamps.

Using ice to to keep fresh the seal thus allowing an easier removal is also used for metallic seals when you have to seal numerous letters, it works very well !
