HEY! I just got this and i totally love it! However, the paint comes off way too easily. I've only gotten this for two days and it has come off a fair bit and i don't think this will last me a long time at all! It's not like a throw it around or anything, i treat it pretty well, and now there are these horrible white scratches on it. Does anyone here have the same problem? Is there anyway to touch up my pole? Thank you all!

Hi:
Yes, I had the exact same problem. I'm not sure how to correct it, so I'll be very interested if anyone else has come up with a workable solution. Ron |

HMMM....
They must have changed the way they make these. I've had a couple of these for years, and mine are not painted, but have woodgrain contact paper on them. You might try getting some yourself and putting it on--mine have been used hundreds of times and still look great.

Mine also has contact paper on it and I have not had any problems with it.

I bought my original one from John Ferrentino a few years ago; that one was made of blue plastic with the stripes made of contact paper, which is a much better idea than the one currently being sold. I don't think John is selling his anymore.

John Ferrentino still sells his 8 foot appearing pole at hocus-pocus.

Yes,my pole is Danny Sylvester's pole. It is covered with contact paper, but not the whole paper(seems more like thin plastic tho) scrapes off, only the thin surface which looks like wood. The plastic it is made with is transparent, but my pole is now left with many white scratches. Scott, could you please give some advice as you take care of your pole? Have you dropped your pole before? Also, where could I get some wood-grain contact paper? Thanks!
Hmmm... I just checked out the John Ferrantino version and apparantly this does not use coils, unlike the Danny Sylvester one which I am using! Is that true? That would be really amazing... Haha...

Guys... Appearing poles are usualy covered in a self stick vinyl! I have been using wayne rogers's poles for years and they look as good as when they arrived! not a scratch, and they are very strong!
check out http://www.nzmagic.com these are the best you can buy! hope this helps Steve Dela |

Really? Not a scratch? Ah shucks! I should have never ordered sylvester's one. When i first expanded it some of the sticker was kinda torn already. Then bit by bit, the 'wood' started disappearing to white scratches. ARGH!!! I want a better pole. Hank Lee was nice enough to offer to replace me with a new one, but it would not make a difference cause it is just going to happen again! I wish i had bought the Wayne Roger's one instead...

hi Huron,
I have often had dissapointing purchases! but for any kind of pole items wayne Rogers' are the best and Yes not a scratch and not even scuffed at the edges and i use mine at least twice a week! I very much recommend his appering Shovel (this has the wood grain design) also the ladder is also fantastic and is avalible as (silver well aluminium looking) or wood grain! sorry this sounds like a sails pitch! they are all very good! all the best Steve Dela |

There are many spray paints out there that will cover and stay nicely. Also, you can make your own out of fluorescent light covers. They are available at any hardware store.

Mine is at least 5 years old, woodgrain contact paper, looks perfect. They must've switched up the design, cause this thing is nearly indestructible.

Argh... Mine just gets scratched more and more whenever I use it. Each performance takes away 10% of it's 'wood-life'. =( Hank Lee offered to send me a new one, but I have to send my scratched one back. With the shipping and all, that's not gonna be cost effective. I might as well buy a new one.
