Hello All. My name is Michael and I'm pretty new to Bizarre Magick. Are there any strong routines you can point me to?

Thanks for the warm welcome Gary!! I am interested in some free beginner effects to get started. From what I've read, most (if not all) of the bizarre are centered around good stories. I'm guessing I am looking for some good stories that I can use and will connect with my audience.

Freebies, you won't get! There will be some here,to help guide you! This may be a good starting point for you,but the best will be to read and learn, and keep reading post on Spooky!!! A possible help for you may be Tony Chris's 'Karnival of Magick' DVD! And,do not mention Freebies in The Attic 'Penny Forum'!!! There is a Freebie

If you're on a low budget Mystic Menagerie e-magazine is very good value for very little outlay, various links for it on this forum, the first edition is free, so can't get better than that.

Mystic Menagerie will keep you informed about a lot of what is going on in the bizarre world. Freddie Valentine's occult series will offer an intro in areas of bizarre magic. Stephen Wards scripting for paranormal entertainers may be helpful further down the line. Dragonskull while the site is frozen now contains lots of info. Craig Browning has a freebie on lulu. While he does at times have extreme opinions it does show different avenues open to you.

Welcome Michael!
You're already IN a story. When you notice something in life, and feel a connection, you'll be able to pass that sense along to the audience. Sometimes the story comes first, and you'll look for the best way to tell it. Sometimes you'll find an "effect" that you see in a different way, that compels you to find the right story. Sometimes it takes a long time for it to gel, and sometimes you see the shape of it immediately. This is a direction where you find your own artistic truth. There are also some excellent books and delightful dealers, that outline ideas and provide you with props. You must still find a sense of truth in it, make it your own. It's a wonderful road to travel! Watch where you step!

Michael, welcome to the Dark Side ;-) If you're on Facebook, you'll want to nudge me there as there is a large Bizarre group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/bizarremagick/ Just ask to join and I'll put you in. Also, you don't want to miss the Yellow board which has a large group of prominent bizarrists. http://www.bizarremagic.net Get connected and we'll ease you into the darkness.
If you are around California, in April we have a Bizarre Gathering in Livermore, CA which is like a creative workshop weekend. We have bizarrists of all levels and it is a wonderful, kind group to learn, grow and enjoy with. http://www.bizarremagick.com/Oddindex.html
