Over the last year, my vest have been replaced with suspenders. This could be something to do with the 40 pounds that vanished. This morning when I bent over to pick up a prop, one of the buckles came loose..and wallah a new bit was created. I tried it out in the show I was setting up for. Basically I picked a time when my other hand was doing something and undid the left buckle... I didn't notice it to a few minutes later. While I was snapping it back on I undid the rear buckle...
I am sure this bit will become more refined as I go on. Harris on my thinking table: professors cheer ropes done with the buttons on your jacket or shirt. (this is not my idea, but a pamphlet I bought back in the 70s or so.

Sounds like a great bit. Have you seen George Carl's bits with suspenders; part of his mic stand/harmonica act?

My trademark is suspenders. I have 30 different shirts, 100 loud ties, 24 different colors suspenders, and I mix and match them.

Back when I was a teen, working with a partner, we did a bit where I tied his hands and "stole" his part of the show. He escaped and "secretly" undid the cummerbund. As I was "stealing" his show, my pants fell around my ankles revealing silly boxers.
The kids LOVED it! Not sure if you could do this in today's politically correct world, though.

George Carl is wonderful.
I will take the time to watch more videos. I don't remember seeing him, but there is a good chance I did on the tonight show many years ago. Playing the harp for a gag, prop and tremendous harmonica skill. Thanks Frank, for the link. Harris

I wouldn't recommend dropping your pants! At the end of your show the police would be waiting to take you away!

George really knows how to put in the acting to get genuine laughs.
I don't think the one linked to above is even close to George's greatest effort. he's really got some great and really funny bits that make me bust out laughing every time. And I'm not one to laugh at just anything. It takes something quite funny for me to laugh out loud watching a youtube clip. I wish that wasn't so, but that's just how I'm wired.

Leland and Howie:
That's PRECISELY why I haven't done this gag for over 30 years!
