That seems to do the trick, and yet
For winter holidays
There's magic in these simple words
When spoken in good cheer:
"Merry Christmas!" and "I wish for you
The Happiest New Year!"

Not late at all, Regan. Much of the world celebrates the arrival of St. Nicholas on January 6. IIRC, the date of Jesus's birth might be celebrated as December 25, but the tradition of gift-giving that we celebrate at Christmas-time was started by the magi Belthasar, Gaspar and Melchior and is based not on the day of Jesus's birth, but on the visit of the magi later--after Joseph, Mary and the child had moved from the stable to more comfortable lodging.
