*tear* One of the CS coins I own came apart. The inner side of both half coins is green, probably oxidation. I have no idea who the manufacturer is. So how do I fix this? I'm thinking toothpaste to clean off the green gunk then, superglue? Liquid weld? What saith thou?

Buy a new and improved C/S coin - from TWOCAN, naturally!
Thanks! Jim |

If you try to put it back together yourself, consider using a more flexible adhesive that will work with metal, rather than super glue, which is a bit brittle and can break if dropped.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I had one that came apart once, it was a cheap one I remember, not one from a super craftsman like a TWOCAN. Anyway I simply glued it back together and it's been holding just fine for years now. My favorite one I have is from Johnson's, nice make and feel for what you use a C/S coin for but looking to get one from TWOCAN as well, his work looks really good.

Thanks Mb217, I look forward to having you as a customer Sir. I will also be making up some nice chinatown sets using copper KING George coins, The blend between both copper and brass coins make the edging absolutly seamless,I will post when finished. Cheers PT

Marion, This coin was obviously cheap. Will attempt gluing it together in the next few days. It may be an okay practice coin, but I love Johnson products. Getting my first purchase from TWOCAN soon, will most likely be a return customer. Planning to purchase from Lassen also. I'm drooling for the Cerberus Coin David Neighbors helped him develop. That's one fine-looking coin!

When you buy a C/S coin from a gaffer you should mention that you want it to be aged. Most assume that if you do not ask, then the appearance is of no importance. Assuming TWOCAN is giving you a few hints via PM, I will just note that you can easily age your C/S yourself using various household materials. My Kueppers Walking Liberty C/S coins are beautfully aged and look very good, on top of being well made.
Now, having just gotten my two newest C/S coins from TWOCAN, I have added two more very well made C/S coins to my collection. They are absolutely beautiful and the workmanship is impeccable. If anyone is looking to get a quality set (one C/S coin with a matching copper coin), look him up. You will not be disappointed! Thanks again, PT! |
