Hi guys,
Post title says it all really. What would anyone say is the best magnetic penny or 2p available and why? Looking to invest in one and was wondering if anyone had any advice. Cheers, AA

The one that seems the most popular on the internet is this...
http://www.magicshop.co.uk/p2878/Magneti......nfo.html ***Also available from other magic shops!!*** The problem is that I would like to switch the gaff out for a duplicate and it's gonna be difficult to find a penny made in 1967. I really don't know why they've used that year, I'm worried it will be spotted by laymen as an unusual design. Does anyone have advice or experience with magnetic copper coins in the UK? AA

These coins get dark fast, nobody will notice the date. I have one and it gets lost among all the other 1960s pennies I have.
Also, the dates on the gaffs vary. They're not replicas. You know that these pennies are larger than 2p coins, don't you? |

I've never seen a magnetic 1p, in the modern sense of the coin. Maybe they're too small.
1960s pennies are used as a copper coin to contrast with silver half dollars because they are the same size. Modern "copper" coins cling to magnets. By the way, magnetic magician's coins are rarely if ever replicas, they begin life as real coins. |

Thanks for your advice Caubeck.
I have found a magnetic 2p coin which as you pointed out has been built from a 2p coin so is the same size etc. http://www.alakazam.co.uk/product-Magnet......oin.html Will be ordering, hope it does the job! Thanks again, AA

Quick review for the above coin -
Completely identical to a regular 2p coin, not that surprising as it was made from a regular coin but the magnet has added no weight to it or change in shape/size etc. In a nutshell it's indistinguishable from the real thing. I was initially disappointed with how strong the magnet was when compared with regular 2ps (steel based magnetic coins), HOWEVER I bought his coin to use for 'coin through glass table' and it does stick better when magnetised through glass on to my PK ring. Regular coins seem to fall if you move ur hand quickly but the magnetic coin does the job better. Just my two pence worth! AA Edit - forgot to mention, excellent service from Alakazam, ordered Tuesday morning in my hand Wednesday morning!

The size and thinness of the coin can determine how big and powerful the magnet can be. Now imagine a 1p.
I've lost so many credit cards and transport passes to magnets that I don't carry big neodymium blocks with me any more, but I had fun when I did. |
