I know this question have been asked numerous times, but which bill switch would any one of you recommend for a beginner? Should I practice the one with a TT or without TT? Borrowed bill or not?
Thanks, A.K. |

If you know this has been asked many times why don't you use the search engine? But I recommend visi-bill.

In Michael Ammar's book "The Magic of Michael Ammar" there's a really thorough description of a bill switch. The illustrations are very easy to follow. Hope that helps

I'd like to buy visi-bill, but does it require a large TT? I have a pretty thin thumb and anything larger than regular would be too loose.

Just a normal vernet hard tip is what I use. Don't think it looks so clean, but I don't perform it anyway.

Do yourself a favor and get Paul Chosse's BAR BILL STUNT written by Ron Bauer (part of the PRIVATE STUDIES series). Not only do you get Paul's original routine, you also get a couple of additional versions/handlings and a bonus tipped in. You will also learn how to pronounce "Chosse".

You see? So many different replies, so many choices. Some of the past posts are the same way, and I tend to get lost by the end of the topic. Also, I am working toward that 50 posts. I don't know about you guys, but that's a mighty fine reason to post for me.

I just learned hypno-bill. I don't really like the gaff. I tried making it last night and the directions are a little confusing.

I have tried both the 100 dollar bill switch and Chosse's bill switch, and to me it really comes down to the performer...if you feel comfortable switching the bills w/ a TT than use the 100 dollar switch, if you feel comfortable hiding the folded bill behind the other bill use the Chosse one. I prefer the Chosse b/c I think the actual switch is smoother b/c you don't use a TT, also the new bill makes it fairly easy to cover the little folded bill. Hope this helps any

I love the Chosse (Pronounced Chaw-see) switch, however, the switch I use regularly is the Tom Mullica switch from the Stevens Vid. It may be his or maybe he gives credit on the video, cannot remember! It has one of the best convincers I have ever seen.

If you go with the thumbtip method, I'd suggest you take a look at Roger Klause' work on the subject. In particular, the bill switch description from "In Concert." Roger's use of 'half moves' makes this switch completely natural.
I second the notion to take a look at the Bauer / Chosse manuscript (mainly for the SUPERB presentation angles.) Regards, Doug Conn PS: I had trouble with "Visibill" (and suspect others with huge thumbs will as well, emperor caveat.) |
