Does anyone know the name of the book test that Orson uses on this special? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1ki35Jri......pp_video Essentially:
1. A prediction is sealed in ice 2. A number is selected between 1-6 (5) 3. A second number is selected 1-99 (99) 4. These numbers are combined (599) 5. A number is merely thought of (6) 6. One book is selected from 10 rather large books 7. Prediction matches the predicted page, predicted line. Our club is having a book test night, and I thought this would be a good one.

Never heard of this one. Sounds good, though. . .

This is basically a variation of a classic headline prediction. If you are working alone and not on a stage it would be particularly difficult to accomplish effectively.

I have most of the workings figured out, just missing a bit or two. I've checked about 30 of my mentalism books, and have not yet found something similar to this.

Nelson did a headline prediction that was baked into a loaf of bread. Others have put out predictions that were in sealed bottles, balloons, etc. Similar methods would work with a block of ice or just about any other container. Keep in mind, though, that Welle's effect was part of a televised stage show, a medium that allows much more flexibility as far as method goes.
I don't want to get into specific methods here, as this is a publicly accessible and searchable forum. Perhaps you'd like to start a thread in Inner Thoughts? (which is neither public nor searchable) You can find that forum at the bottom of the main page in the Banquet Room. Good thoughts, Bob |

Thanks Bob - good idea. I have predictions appear in cakes, locked boxes, mailed envelopes, so the ice thing was not a concern. I'll move it over as suggested. Thanks for your insight.

Dunninger performed the block of ice prediction on his radio show in the 1940's and again on TV in the 1950's.
