I been retired from doing magic shows for about ten years now.
In that time spat I had four grandsons. The oldest one is eight. They have no idea of want I use to do. One turn five years old today. The good thing is that. I still have all of my night club act in the back room. I been practicing for about a month and a half to get up to speed. The funny thing is that my hands and body still moves by them self. I don't have to think about doing a move. My hands and body still remember want to do on its own. That tells me that I put in lots of practice and shows back then! The reason I had to practice for over a month was that I forgot 79% of the dialogue. I am so happy that my grandsons was able to see what I use to do! You know what? I getting back into doing shows again. In time I hope one or two of my grandsons will take over my shows. A very happy grandpa Greg |

Congratulations Greg.
True it is a lot like riding a bicycle, once you learn how, it then comes back fairly easy. Tom

Greg,
I wish you well, and I'm going to be brutally frank here; your spelling/grammar is in need of serious improvement. I'm only trying to help you. Perhaps you don't speak the way you write and many of us are like that. But I'm surprised that the Grammar Host in the Café hasn't reached out to you. If you seek work, you'll need to communicate to your prospective employers and sell them on your abilities. Maybe you only have a typing problem! If you're not used to a keyboard, it can be a terrible hunt and peck experience. But these days, if you can't use a computer keyboard, you'll need to learn how, or find someone who can help you with that....how about your grandsons? I'm betting they're pretty good with a computer! I have no doubt you are a wonderful magician, probably better than me, but you must be able to communicate that in writing. The Café is a great place and I'm certain that someone in here can help you. I hope I've helped you. And get those grandsons involved in your act! You'll have the time of your life!
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Greg - There are so many ways to get your grand kids involved and they can be presented as the stars of the show. We worked with our dad when I was 3 or 4 years old and they were times we never forgot. He used us for productions as well as assistants for his stage shows. Good luck!

Very nice Greg, that's so cool. This seems to be working on several levels at the same time as you are being taken back to revisit a skill and talent you used to utilize, your exposing your kids to the arts and a part of you they never knew existed, and you are setting yourself and your grandkids up to move forward together. It can that thing that creates lifelong memories and bonds for them long after you are gone.
Glad to see you too back to it like so naturally. Great for you! |

I agree that this cool. Magic is all about sharing and interacting, but at the same time showing that study, practice and effort bring value. This is very much a lesson I hope I can bring to my future (right now hopefully very future) grand children.

Welcome.
Playing blues or jazz guitar is great to keep the fingers nimble for magic. I combine the two in things like the Nursery Rhyme blues. I thought this was original(ha ha), then found other performers have come up with this idea. Grandkids are great. My grandson used to juggle a bit during some of my programs.
