It's like the exact opposite but a nice thought. The creation of lists, graphs, documented processes for everything is endless. Some of it seems of value but a lot of it seems a little redundant and overwhelming for a small company. We have 67 total employees and an engineering department consisting of 4 engineers (all wearing many hats) and one secretary.

There are points for helpfulness/cooperation and knowledge of your current functions and how they are performed (and any procedures which describe them). Do you have a procedure that describes that activity? Documentation of the review of that procedure? Evidence that the procedure is being followed? DO 254 and 178 spoken here.

Don't you mean "procedures"? Yes, I have been creating processes and checklists for the major engineering tasks that we perform, along with any necessary accompanying documents. Then there is document control, which we have been a bit lax at... We are in the process of accumulating evidence but since the documented procedures are new, the data is very minimal at present. You sound like one of "them"! On top of all this, we are in the middle of preparing for critical design review meeting regarding three new solenoid valve designs that is scheduled for Tuesday next week! Our awesome and amazing contracts department committed us to an 8 week delivery for 3 new solenoid valve designs... We're talking design, development, all drawings, prototypes built and succesfully tested within that time and the proto quantity is 30 pcs each! Needless to say it has been a very hectic year at work so far!

Ok, that makes sense. I'm sure we will receive our share of NCR's but hopefully will get our rev. C approval.

I know this is late, but.....I was audited once and the best advice I can give is just answer the question. Don'f offer any MORE than just answering the question. Don't give them something else to question.

Well, 5 hours later and I am dismissed from the freakin room. I think we are doing ok overall. We (in engineering) got at least 2 NCR's that I am sure of and probably a couple more that maybe were not as highly touted. I will find out the real assesment when I can discuss it freely with our QC manager on Monday.

Oh, I totally forgot to mention something! Near the end of my time in there, it was divulged that I am a magician (I also do an annnual show for our company at Christmas time). They put me on the spot and I had like nothing on me, not even a ball point pen for recapped... Actually I had my cell phone and I did toss a half dollar into my pocket this morning sooo I was able to do the little cell phone coin magic app thing and produce the half dollar from my phone. That went over pretty well but now they want me to come in tomorrow morning and show a few tricks! Man, if our approval is caught in the balance of how well I entertain the auditor we may be in big trouble! LOL Actually I am planning on doing Doubleback, one of the Sugar Rush effects and the Theory of Relativity (using Winston Freer Tile Puzzle). We'll see how he likes those!

You paid no attention to my suggestion and did some magic for them. You are forewarned. Just answer the questions. You're not there to entertain them. Before you know it they'll be looking at your magic act with more than what you had in mind. These guys are ruthless. Why do you think they put you on the spot? Think about it. Good luck.
