There's a guy in Seattle who plays a piano at the Pike Place Market and some festivals. His is an upright though.

Johnny Hahn is the PPM busker. He's known all over the ***ed place, when my girlfriend was photographing in Egypt her guide asked her, "Do you know the man who plays piano in The Market?"

I know a guy busks on an upright piano in York, His big problem is pushing it around the cobbled streets.
I was put on this earth to do a great many things..... I'm now so far behind that I don't think I'm ever going to die!

Dang! And I built a table-less act just so I wouldn't have to carry a small table around! Now I feel like a real wussy!

I've seen several piano buskers. Usually upright though, with the piano on a furniture dolly and a rack of CDs for sale on top.

I met a very talented [probably of the "The harder I work the luckier I get" class] glass harpist who has to carry some 30 or so wine/brandy glasses to his pitch and get just the right amount of water in each to make the right note. Several of the glasses make the same note, placed depending on the chords he wants to play by running his fingers arond the brims. It takes him maybe half an hour to set up his table.
I've just thought, he could cut down the set up time by storing his glasses with water in by using a stretchy lid over the top, so he has only minimal adjustment to make when he gets to the pitch. And a goldfish swimming around inside one of them would draw attention. Oops, I'm getting into magic productions, not music ones.
The presentation makes the magic.

I know the grand (or even the upright) are impressive, but a keyboard and a keyboard stand would be a lot more practical. (Unless of course you get an anal cop who goes on about "amplified" music.)
