Personally I've entertained my clients during long wait times while they are looking over my shoulder. Typical situation would be; client walks in and asks, "how we doing?" I respond, "good, after the reboot you should be all set." *client grabs chair, pulls up along side of me I say, "hey, this reboot is going to take a few minutes - want to see something other then watching the little bar slide back and forth on the screen?" They always say "sure" or "yes". Great thing is, once you perform something, they usually are "shocked" and walk out of the room which is perfect for me as I hate people watching over my shoulders. Often enough, most of my appointments end with a trick or two. I only do this mini-show for VIP's as it helps build our business relationship together. My clients can get their computers fixed by any company, but for them to get fixed by a magician - how cool is that? Not to get too out of topic, but this helps gather referrals too. They call a friend and tell them what their computer guy just did in their office. Now their friend wants to see me and I turn it into a two-way business opportunity: magic opportunity for me and an IT opportunity for my company. Hope this helps, y. |

I've taken to carrying multiplying balls and a half dollar around in my coat so that whenever I have a spare moment I can break them out and at least practice manipulation. I do this at college, usually during breaks or lulls in lectures, and no one seems to mind in the least; it probably just looks to them like I am fidgeting.
Admitted, however, that college is a fair cry different than work, but I can't imagine anyone taking an issue with it. |

I work at Starbucks and do magic for customers all the time. I've done it for three years and all the managers I've worked under actually ask me to perform to their favorite customers often. When I'm working throughout the drive through I always have great opportunities while they are just sitting their waiting. I have little routines I have put together with straws and things we have around. Customers love it and remember me and seem to come in with friends to see my magic. I have fun, it enhances our customer service and our tips increase, not to mention I have scored gigs from it.

From my office, I have about 5 different Starbucks I could go to and I would drive out of my way to be a patron at your location. Brilliant idea - I hope the boss pays you well. =0) Cheers, y. |

And this is a every day setting. Keep going and if you can get a video of you at the drive thru that would be a blast to see.

The meeting went well today. When I got bored with cards I switched to sponge balls Yet again no one asked what I was doing until the very end.

I do tricks at work, usually just when things are quiet I'll ask "hey, wanna see something neat?" it allows me crowd control experience and practice with my patter. plus these people aren't friends but aren't strangers, they don't know me and can accept my role as performer. Personally I enjoy it.
"Honest, that's supposed to be on fire, really."
