About the lecture: Most of you will read the title and jump straight ahead to buy tickets for this lecture. Because of this, I will only give you "Cliff Note" bullet points, and then we will introduce Richard Osterlind to the few of you who enjoy reading this kind of thing. -Osterlind has never lectured in the Chicago area before. -He has only done a handful of lectures over his entire career, but those who have seen him lecture rave about his ability to impart knowledge. -He is first and foremost a performer and the material in this lecture has never been seen live in this area. -He has released many instructional books and DVDs over the years. -Everything he sells during his lecture will be discounted from retail prices! -He is still sitting on many unreleased effects, some of which we might get a chance to see. -He is a heck of a nice guy. What's the lecture about: As the name implies, he will be performing some of the effects featured on his Mind Mysteries DVD series interlaced with a discussion of principles detailed in his Principles of Magic and Principles of Mentalism. About Richard Osterlind: Richard Osterlind has been a prolific performer and creator of mentalism and magic for his entire life. Besides doing scores of shows yearly for Fortune 500 companies, he’s found time to create some of mentalism and magic’s most original effects. Besides the Osterlind Breakthrough Card System, he is the originator of the Perfected Center Tear, the Radar Deck, ThoughtScan, the Osterlind Stainless Steel Blindfold, the Epitome and Ultra Boards, Industrial Strength Link, the Dynamo Deck, and many other marketed and widely-used magic and mentalism effects. His published works include The Principles of Magic, The Principles of Mentalism, Mystique, The Osterlind Trilogy (comprised of Making Magic Real, Making Real Magic, and Essays), The Very Modern Mindreader, The Perfected Center Tear, Dynamic Mysteries, Three Miracle Routines, Two Perfected Routines, and seven guide books for his Mind Mysteries DVD series. In addition to the Mind Mysteries DVD series, he has also appeared in a number of other very popular DVD projects, including 13 Steps to Mentalism, No Camera Tricks, Easy to Master Mental Miracles, Live…Without a Net! (all from L&L Publishing) and Challenge Magic. What others say about Richard Osterlind: "His version of the center tear (Perfected Center Tear) will be used far beyond our lifetime." - Jim Sisti "We have never engaged a keynote speaker who generated such a positive response!" - Kenneth Taylor, Pacific Bell Yellow Pages "It's impossible to express how remarkable he is!" - David Lentini, CEO, New England Bank Dr. Todd Landman, member of I.B.M. Ring 25 in Britain and organizer of the London Mentalism Meetings (Tabula Mentis) surveyed mentalists about who were their influences. When the results from the 107 participants were tabulated, Osterlind's average rating of 7.29 came in as the highest, outpacing Tony Corinda (7.18) and Theo Annemann (7.02).
