Simcoscor -- I have the Sphinx and love how it's made ... but could use your suggestion on working... please PM me... many thanks! I have mental safari and it too is beautiful -- but does anyone know if it's really the same effect as mind paintings? Looks the same ...

The handling I shared with Magic Patagonia is for MW The Scarab, and won’t work for MW Golden Sphinx… But I came out with a different handling for The Sphinx that will also provide the necessary misdirection to do the “dirty work”. I combine it with The Hand of Cleopatra, which is a perfect companion for the Sphinx IMO… I PM’d you to share my handling on this one… About Mental Safari, which has been released in two versions by The Magic Wagon team (the latest being made of teak and brass), it is exactly the same as mind painting. In a few weeks, MW will release a new version of Mind Paintings, in conjunction with Mr. Howard Baltus at The Trickery. The same effect again, also in teak and brass. More about that next MW release HERE Simon |

I forgot to post a review for Majestic Hydro Die, so here it comes.
Effect: Very cool, a vanishing of a die, something different then your usual card trick or mentalism effect. You have a normal die that can be inspected by the spectators. You put it in a glass vial (or glass-like plexi) and poor water in it. The die is clearly seen on the bottom. You place a cover onto the whole apparatus and show the die is truly inside. You show the die can not pass through the bottom (the bottom can be inspected, no hidden trap doors ) and you place a cap on the whole apparatus - yes, the die is still there. A few magic words ... you take of the cap and let the spectator examine the vial, water, bottom part and cover. Nothing is seen ... the die is gone. You can let the spectator examine the cap afterwards. It is possible to let the die appear somewhere and let the spectator perform the trick himself ... but it won't work. Magic Wagon doesn't encourage you to do this, they say it is better to just stop there and make it a simple 'vanish' trick. Build your own routine around it, which shouldn't be too difficult. Props: Absolutely stunning. The quality is top - not brass but no one will notice, I didn't even notice because they are so heavy. I really can't think of ANYTHING wrong with it ... the 'gimmick' makes no noise whatsoever because Magic Wagon 'did something' ... I can't get into more detail. You even get a small vial to use to poor the water into the crystal tube and afterwards from the tube back into the vial. So everything you can possibly need is in there ... except for the water Difficulty: Easy. Some minor sleight of hand is used at the end if you want to let inspect everything, but not very difficult. Also the trick/routine is in such a way you can easily get passed this moment without arousing any suspicion. Price: the price is justified. The trick is sturdy and reliable, it will las a lifetime. And if you look at what Magic Wagon items sell for on auction sites it is even a good investment for the future. Not for me however, I'm going to keep this litle miracle. This is one great trick ... I like it very much. It is not the trick you carry with you as a professional performer unless you do parlor magic. A bit too bulky for walk around magic, too small for stage, but excellent for parlor. This was my first Magic Wagon purchase and will not be the last. My trick came without the die but after an e-mail to Magic Wagon there was no fuss, they apoligied (very nice people by the way) and I got my die a week later (no costs for me of course). Great customer service. 9,5/10 - I deducted 0,5 point because it is not 100% self-working and I love 100% self working items |

Magic Wagon just unveiled a new piece -- Mysterious Ring Cabinet -- a bit pricey but sounds absolutely amazing and beautiful. I just hope MW doesn't sell it to that fellow in Pennsylvania that buys MW items as they come out and then sells them on ebay for twice the amount. I certainly understanding buying and selling magic -- but to buy these items when they are so rare and collectible for such a huge profit seems a shame to me.

Magic Wagon team has been working on this new effect since September 2011, and they were really excited about their new release.
I'm not sure about this, but IMO, they probably send an email offer to all their loyal customers (mailing list), and probably built only a few extras... Seems that the extras are sold out (according to MagiChrisMitch)... but you never know : at 325$, if some loyal customers decline the offer after 48 or 72 hours (I really don't know, that's my guess), maybe they'll have a few more available. In brief, if you are interested, you should send them an email just in case... magicwagon@hotmail.com Simon |
