"Hypnosis Without Trance is a new and contemporary approach to hypnosis that dispenses with the myth and mystery of ‘old-school’ trance rituals in favour of clear precision-based processes that allow for the elicitation of hypnotic phenomena without the need for ‘altered-states’"
The latest Hawaii Hypnosis podcast is now up! Recently I interviewed James Tripp (www.hypnosiswithoutrance.com) Here is the interview http://www.hawaiihypnosis.org/podcasts/h......t-trance Antonio |

No it isn't just that.
The term waking hypnosis only really makes sense in the light of a trance based model. Anthony

Well it is just that depending upon where your coming from. If something has been called a dog for centuries suddenly gets called a cat......its still a dog. If someone has been sticking hands to a table for 20 years using hypnosis and someone comes along and says its something else its still hypnosis or waking hypnosis. Just because someone packages something differently doesn't make the contents any different or even new.
I like James hes a cool guy but all this "new stuff" isn't new just repackaged. Plus it isn't the same as phenomena induced or conditioned using what is normally accepted as trance. Its much less mild. Unless you can point me to a video that says different. Then I would be happy to learn something. Having said that James is good at what he does and perhaps there is a use for what he does and a few good applications . But I really haven't seen any but Ive never been on his course. |

I agree with a lot of what MP says. However in all fairness to James Tripp I don't 'believe' I've ever heard him say that he had anything new. What he has claimed is his own individual protocols, such as his hand stick. I liked it very much and am very happy to credit him with that. His 'wording' was simply knew to me personally and I thought it was very well thought out.
It (like everything else) will kill a newbie when it doesn't work, but to the experienced hypnotist it's an extra arrow in the quiver and we never really allow ourselves to actually fail, do we?

I for one am a big fan of the HWT work James has put out.
Bobser you're right, James doesn't claim he's reinvented the wheel and is open about his views on the existence of formal 'trance' for such phenomena taking place. I liked his thoughts on reframing perceived failure too... |
