Levon made such a great contribution to the world of music. He will be missed.
http://www.levonhelm.com/ Dear Friends, Levon is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey. Thank you fans and music lovers who have made his life so filled with joy and celebration... he has loved nothing more than to play, to fill the room up with music, lay down the back beat, and make the people dance! He did it every time he took the stage... We appreciate all the love and support and concern. From his daughter Amy, and wife Sandy |

That is sad. He is an amazing talent who I've enjoyed listening to as long as I've been listening to music.

Didn't they do a documentary on Levon? He was a likable guy beyond his talent. He fought cancer before and they said he wouldn't perform again but he did. Shame cancer got him.
For those not hip enough to know Levon check out music by The Band and the movie The Last Waltz, which all of you should have seen already. |

R.I.P.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfhTr1jhFio Levon was a genuinely nice person and he performed, toured and made great music up until the end. If you haven't listened to any of his more recent albums, check out "Dirt Farmer" and "Electric Dirt". Regretfully never got to see him perform live. I was at the studio at Levon's home in Woodstock to see The Black Crowes record but unfortunately I picked the wrong night to go, he sat in with them the following weekend. Still, it was pretty surreal being in his "barn". Another favorite memory. |

Sad, indeed. I love The Band, and in fact my current band do a couple of numbers by The Band.

Sad. Yet another influential guitarist Bert Weedon has also died today.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
