Put them in one at a time - the last one in will be the first one out. Before you put each silk in, twist the end of it with the end of the silk already in the tube. Don't tie them, just twist them together 3 or 4 times.

Using a wooden tongue depressor (from the doctor's office) you can better control the "bunching up" problem.

It's implied above, but not expressly stated: Make sure you put them in Corner to Corner. As the first one goes in zig zag as you push it in AND as noted above twist the end of the silk just in with the next silk in and so forth to help the silks come up and out. You might have to experiment with this, but once you get it right you can cram a lot of silks into a fairly small space, etc. Watch out for too great a compression though as you could possibly jam the silks up.
Again, you'll play with it and figure out the optimum configuration for your production device. Essentially: The smaller, narrower the load chamber the more possibility for problems. That's why I like the Temple Screen, Square Circle, etc. The chamber was large and open allowing lots of stuff AND the ability to place my hand all the way to the bottom of the chamber if necessary. Best,
Brad Burt
