I picked up Ammar's intro to coin magic (Thanks 55Hudson) and I thought it would just transform my coin magic into a stellar one coin routine. In a way it has, but indirectly.
I picked up a handkerchief and it gave me a lot of opportunities to meld some sleights into a routine. It also happened that I watched a video from Magic Inc. and stole a production from there. I have three sleights. French drop, retention vanish and a palm vanish. I would show these off one after another, really finding that they fell flat. The routine I played with was this. Show and vanish coin. Show handkerchief, produce coin. Retention vanish into handkerchief, produce coin from pocket. Replace coin in pocket, flip over handkerchief to show coin. Repeat until production of lighter. Use lighter to cause the coin to pass through the handkerchief. Use lighter to make coin dissappear. Its a very slow simmering routine. I would like to get more help with it. However, I am pointing out some ways in which the handkerchief was able to bring together some things that I knew, and flesh out a routine. It may be that this is as developed as the routine gets. That's fine, I'm pretty happy with it. Most of all, I'm happy that the routine isn't exactly great, and I'm aware of it. ~Nick |

Nick,
Glad you found the Ammar video helpful. I find his teaching style to be very clear and effective. Roth has a 4 DVDseries (the gold color ones) that are very good for both skills and routines. A bit pricy, at about $35 each but very good. My favorite for building routines (not skills) are L&L Pub World's Greatest Magic series. There are several on coins. These DVDs take a single routine or prop and show several different versions by great performers. I've found that watching these various routines I can pick and choose elements from the different versions and develop something that really works for me. These DVDs also minimize the temptation to mimic a specific routine, including one-liners that don't even fit your personality! Anyway, hope they'll find these additional resources helpful Best regards, Hudson |

I think you need to involve your audiences for this routine to work, like a production from there ear, clothes ect.
And make a good patter line for the trick, I know of an english text for the 1 coin routine, where you are word playing a bit like "Ear it is" I don't know the full version because it dosen't translate to Danish. |
